Sr. Associate, Utility Data Modeler

Job summary:To design and maintain TAQA Distribution's utility domain data models within the data platform, ensuring that operational and business data from TAQA's utility systems — including asset management, metering, grid operations, and field services — is accurately structured, well-documented, and optimised for analytical and reporting consumption. The Sr. Associate, Utility Data Modeler combines deep knowledge of utility industry data domains with data modelling expertise to build the foundational data structures that power TAQA's analytics and AI capabilities.General Responsibilities:Policy, Procedures, Process and SystemsEnsure the compliance of organization’s policy, systems, processes, procedures, and controls in line with group delegation of authority policy so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service in a consistent manner.ReportingEnsure that all reports are completed timely and comply with the business policies and standards.Manage the preparation of periodical management reports and progress reports to keep the business senior management informed about the progress of various initiatives and to facilitate decision-making.Comply with organization’s requirements in a timely manner.Job Specific Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain logical and physical data models for TAQA's utility operational data domains — including asset management (EAM), metering and billing (CC&B), GIS, field service (FSM), grid operations (SCADA/OMS/DMS), and customer data — ensuring models accurately represent business entities, relationships, and measures.Build and maintain dimensional models, data vault structures, and semantic layer definitions within TAQA's data platform (AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, Databricks, or equivalent) that support performant and accurate analytical queries.Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and analytics teams to understand reporting and analytical requirements, translating them into well-structured data model designs.Document data models, data dictionaries, entity relationship diagrams, and data lineage maps, ensuring all modelling artefacts are current, accurate, and maintained in TAQA's data catalogue.Participate in data quality monitoring for modelled data domains, identifying data issues at the model layer, coordinating with data engineering teams to implement fixes, and improving model designs to prevent data quality problems.Validate data model outputs against source systems and business rules, ensuring modelled data accurately represents TAQA's operational reality and supports reliable business decision-making.Apply AI-powered data modelling tools and automated schema documentation platforms to improve modelling productivity and documentation qualityHSE, Security, and Risk Protocols:The Employee shall adhere to all the HSE, Security and Risk Management Rules & Procedures communicated by the company, including:Taking reasonable care of their own health, safety, and security.Taking reasonable care of the health, safety and security of persons that may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.Co-operate with their employer with respect to any instruction and/or actions taken by the employer to protect the employee and/ or comply with HSE and security requirements.Report to their immediate line manager any situation which they have reason to believe could present a risk, hazard, or issue to an individual or the company and which they cannot correct themselves.Report all HSE and security incidents and work-related injuries.Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided at the workplace that supports the interest of HSE, security and welfare.Technical Competencies:Utility Domain Data Modelling (EAM, Metering, GIS, SCADA, FSM, Customer Data)Dimensional Modelling & Data Vault DesignSemantic Layer Development (dbt, LookML, Power BI datasets)Data Dictionary & Data Lineage DocumentationData Quality Monitoring at the Model LayerAI & Data Modelling Tool ProficiencyStrategic & Business Competencies:Utility Industry Data Domain KnowledgeAnalytics & Reporting Requirements UnderstandingData Governance & Metadata Management AwarenessContinuous Improvement & Documentation QualityEssential RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent3 years of relevant working experienceDesired RequirementsMaster’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent6 years of relevant working experience
