Senior Director Engineering – Commerce PlatformExperience: 16–21 YearsLocation: Gurgaon / HybridDomain: Consumer Internet | E-commerce | Marketplace | Commerce PlatformAbout the RoleWe are looking for a Senior Director of Engineering to lead a large-scale Commerce Platform that powers end-to-end commerce journeys across multiple consumer channels.This is a high-impact engineering leadership role responsible for a channel-agnostic commerce platform serving experiences across Mobile App, Website, Stores, Call Centers and other commerce channels.The ideal leader will combine strong engineering depth, architecture expertise, consumer product thinking and large-scale people leadership. This is not just a backend engineering leadership role—the candidate must understand how technology enables the complete customer journey from discovery to product consideration, cart, checkout and successful order conversion.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the engineering strategy and execution for the Commerce Platform supporting critical consumer journeys.Lead a globally distributed engineering organization of approximately 100–150 engineers across India, Germany and Greece.Define and drive scalable, resilient and highly available commerce architecture.Own technical strategy across:Product DiscoveryProduct CatalogCategory & Product ListingSearch / Discovery ExperiencesCartCheckoutOrder PlacementConversion FunnelCustomer Commerce JourneysPartner closely with Product, Design, Business and other technology leaders to translate consumer and business problems into scalable technical solutions.Drive architecture decisions for high-scale distributed systems, platform modernization and engineering excellence.Ensure the platform can support multiple commerce channels while maintaining a consistent customer experience.Build strong engineering practices around scalability, reliability, performance, security, observability and operational excellence.Mentor and develop senior engineering leaders and build a strong leadership pipeline.Establish a culture of technical ownership, innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.Influence long-term technology strategy and investment decisions for the Commerce organization.Balance business priorities with technical debt, platform scalability and long-term architectural health.What We’re Looking ForMust Have16–21 years of strong engineering experience, with significant experience in senior engineering leadership roles.Deep experience building and scaling consumer-facing B2C commerce products.Strong understanding of the complete commerce ecosystem, including:DiscoveryProduct CatalogCategory PagesProduct ExperienceCartCheckoutOrder PlacementConversion OptimizationExperience owning engineering for products where commerce is the core business, rather than a supporting capability.Strong expertise in large-scale distributed systems and modern commerce architecture.Demonstrated ability to lead organizations of 100+ engineers, preferably across multiple geographies.Strong technical architecture and solution-design capabilities.Proven experience working closely with Product and Business leaders to solve complex consumer problems.Ability to connect customer experience, business outcomes and ExperienceStrong B2C commerce experience is preferred.Candidates currently working in B2B organizations may also be considered if they have significant previous experience building consumer-facing commerce products.For example, a candidate currently working in a B2B technology company can be relevant if their earlier experience includes strong B2C commerce, marketplace or consumer Internet organizations.Candidates whose entire career has been focused on B2B enterprise products without meaningful ownership of consumer commerce journeys would not be preferred.Technical ExpectationsThe
