Apply & track with Apply EdgeRole Summary: The Sr. Inspector, Electrical (Instrumentation & Automation) is highly accountable for ensuring world-class electrical hardware infrastructure integrity, precise instrumentation calibration compliance, and advanced automation control system validation for the Heat Treatment and Finishing Line Expansion Project (HT+FL) at ArcelorMittal (AMTPJ) in Jubail. This specialized inspection role oversees end-to-end quality assurance, installation compliance, and pre-commissioning activities. The incumbent ensures strict adherence to AMTPJ-JESCO engineering specifications, rigorous international codes (IEC, IEEE, ISA, NEC, ISO), and regulatory statutory requirements from engineering design compliance through construction execution to full project close-out.Job Duties & Responsibilities:Perform comprehensive inspections on electrical systems. Check substations, transformers, switchgears, and motor control centres (MCC). Validate variable frequency drives (VFD) and heavy power distribution cable layouts.Oversee instrumentation validation across the multi-zone continuous heat treatment furnaces. Inspect control valves, temperature sensors (thermocouples), pressure transmitters, and digital flow meters.Supervise automation system testing. Witness and approve factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT). Validate programmable logic controllers (PLC) and distributed control systems (DCS). Check Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) and emergency shutdown systems (ESD).Verify loop checks and calibrations. Review and sign off on loop testing sheets, instrument calibration logs, and electrical insulation tests (Megger logs). Ensure continuity and grounding network tests meet safety codes.Audit field construction compliance. Monitor cable tray routing, glanding, termination tolerances, and explosion-proof (ATEX/Comp Ex) installations. Review field activities against project Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and Field Inspection Checklists (FIC).Manage material receiving inspections for high-precision electronics, automation panels, and control equipment. Verify positive material identification (PMI), Vendor Quality dossiers, and OEM preservation procedures.Issue Project Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) when deviations occur. Conduct technical root cause investigations using 5-Why or Fishbone frameworks. Lead field validation to close out corrective actions.Interface with project stakeholders. Collaborate with Project Management, EPC contractors, and OEM automation site specialists to enforce quality standards.Education & Experience:Diploma holder: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in quality inspection, electrical, instrumentation, automation, or a related industrial field.Bachelor’s degree holder: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in quality inspection, electrical, instrumentation, automation, or a related industrial field.Proven field experience verifying heavy electrical infrastructure, including substations, transformers, switchgears, MCCs, VFDs, and grounding networks.Direct involvement inspecting furnace instrumentation, control valves, and testing/approving PLC/DCS automation architectures during FAT/SAT.Technical expertise supervising field construction compliance, explosion-proof (ATEX/CompEx) installations, and signing off on automated loop checks.Solid track record conducting material receiving inspections, managing NCR lifecycles via 5-Why/Fishbone, and coordinating with EPCs, TPIAs, and OEMs.Preferred an engineer in (electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Automation Engineering) with minimum 6-8 years of experiencSkills:Electrical engineering drawings, schematics, and P&ID document reviewDCS/PLC/HMI automation system verificationInstrument calibration verification and automated loop check validationIEC, IEEE, ISA, NEC, and ATEX/CompEx regulatory compliance standardsQuality inspection dashboards management and technical progress data visualizationQuality KPIs tracking, automated inspection reporting and dynamic trend analysisInspection and Test Plans ITPs implementation and field checklist executionEngineering method statements and site installation procedures reviewQuality auditing, surveillance and structural/electrical compliance managementNCR management, root cause analysis and CAPA execution
