Sr Mechanical Engineer - Static/Fixed Equipment

Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Sr Mechanical Engineer specializing in Static/Fixed Equipment to support the design and execution of major LNG, power generation, cogeneration, and energy infrastructure projects.This is a hands-on technical engineering role for an experienced Mechanical Engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of engineering deliverables, performing and reviewing calculations, resolving technical issues, and coordinating across disciplines.A current Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license is required, as this position will be responsible for the technical review and sealing/stamping of engineering documents and calculations within their area of responsibility.The ideal candidate will bring strong experience with pressure-retaining and static/fixed equipment, preferably including cryogenic service, combined with practical knowledge of equipment fabrication, installation, and project execution. Previous experience supporting LNG projects is strongly preferred, and additional experience within power generation or cogeneration projects is highly desirable.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform and oversee the mechanical design and specification of fixed/static equipment, including pressure vessels, columns, drums, cryogenic storage tanks, vaporizers, heat exchangers, equipment supports, and associated systems.Develop, review, and approve mechanical engineering calculations, equipment specifications, datasheets, requisitions, and technical documentation.Perform and/or review pressure vessel calculations, nozzle design and nozzle load evaluations, equipment support requirements, mechanical details, and fabrication drawings.Review engineering documents and calculations for technical accuracy, code compliance, constructability, and overall engineering quality.Serve as the responsible Texas Professional Engineer, including sealing/stamping engineering documents as required.Execute pressure-retaining and mechanical equipment design in accordance with ASME Section VIII, API standards, applicable LNG requirements, and other relevant industry codes and standards.Provide technical expertise for equipment operating in cryogenic, high-pressure, high-temperature, and other demanding process conditions.Prepare equipment RFQs and technical bid packages; evaluate vendor proposals and provide technical recommendations.Review vendor calculations, drawings, fabrication details, material selections, welding requirements, and technical submittals.Manage technical queries and coordinate directly with equipment manufacturers, fabricators, suppliers, and project stakeholders.Work closely with piping, process, civil/structural, electrical, instrumentation, and project engineering teams to resolve equipment interfaces, layout requirements, nozzle loads, support loads, and installation considerations.Provide mechanical engineering support to LNG, power generation, and cogeneration systems, including equipment integration and balance-of-plant interfaces.Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, SIL reviews, constructability reviews, risk assessments, and other multidisciplinary project reviews.Support fabrication shop inspections, vendor surveillance, FATs, site inspections, construction activities, installation, commissioning, and start-up as required.Troubleshoot mechanical and equipment-related technical issues throughout engineering, fabrication, construction, and commissioning.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced Mechanical Engineers and Designers.Perform technical quality reviews and ensure engineering deliverables meet project, client, regulatory, and professional engineering requirements.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.Current Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the State of Texas.Approximately 10+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, preferably within EPC, engineering consulting, or major capital project environments.Strong experience with fixed/static and pressure-retaining equipment.Demonstrated knowledge of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, columns, drums, tanks, equipment supports, and related mechanical systems.Experience performing and reviewing mechanical calculations and engineering deliverables.Strong working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, API standards, and applicable mechanical design codes and standards.Experience working directly with equipment vendors, manufacturers, and fabrication shops.Knowledge of equipment fabrication, welding, materials, inspection, testing, and NDE requirements.Understanding of equipment-to-piping interfaces, nozzle loads, piping flexibility considerations, and structural support interactions.Working knowledge of pressure vessel design software and FEA fundamentals.Ability to independently review, approve, and seal/stamp engineering documents within the engineer's area of professional responsibility.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across engineering disciplines, vendors, clients, and construction teams.Preferred QualificationsPrevious engineering experience on LNG facilities, LNG terminals, liquefaction facilities, or other cryogenic projects.Experience with cryogenic storage tanks, vaporizers, specialized LNG heat exchangers, and cryogenic pressure equipment.Experience supporting power generation and/or cogeneration projects, including combined-cycle, simple-cycle, utility, or industrial power facilities.Previous experience serving as a Lead Mechanical Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, or responsible Engineer of Record on major capital projects.Experience within an EPC or EPCM project environment.Knowledge of fabrication shop practices, welding procedures, material requirements, NDE, inspection, and pressure testing.Experience supporting equipment through the complete project lifecycle from design and procurement through fabrication, construction, commissioning, and start-up.Previous experience supporting projects or construction activities along the Texas/Louisiana Gulf Coast.People & BenefitsOur people are at the heart of everything we do.
