This is a hands-on, bench-focused position for an experienced analytical scientist who can independently perform complex testing, troubleshoot instrumentation and methods, interpret data, and provide technical leadership to other laboratory team members.The Senior QC Analyst will play an important role in supporting production operations while helping advance laboratory efficiency, instrumentation capabilities, documentation practices, and quality systems. The organization is currently advancing its GMP initiatives within an ISO 9001 laboratory environment, making previous experience within a regulated GMP industry highly valuable.The ideal candidate will bring diverse analytical instrumentation experience, strong documentation practices, production support experience, and the ability to troubleshoot and implement new laboratory technologies and software.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform complex analytical testing in a hands-on laboratory environment, with approximately 80% of the position focused on bench work.Operate, troubleshoot, maintain, calibrate, and qualify a diverse range of analytical instrumentation.Utilize analytical techniques including HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer, automated titration, NMR, and ion chromatography.Analyze and interpret experimental and production data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and develop scientifically sound conclusions.Provide analytical support for production operations and understand how laboratory results relate to manufacturing processes and unit operations.Investigate unexpected results, experimental errors, instrument issues, and laboratory or production-related problems.Develop, optimize, validate, and improve analytical methods and testing parameters.Design and execute method validation protocols and other laboratory studies.Ensure laboratory activities, project work, and production support are performed in accordance with applicable quality requirements.Maintain compliant laboratory documentation and ensure experimental findings, interpretations, conclusions, and recommended next steps are clearly documented.Author and review SOPs, analytical methods, protocols, technical reports, and other controlled documentation.Ensure analytical instruments are properly maintained, calibrated, and qualified to minimize downtime and support time-sensitive testing.Utilize instrumentation software and data systems for advanced data analysis, diagnostics, validation, and reporting.Troubleshoot and support the implementation of new laboratory software, instrumentation, and technology.Work with external instrument and technology vendors to improve laboratory capabilities, testing strategies, and equipment performance.Identify opportunities to improve laboratory workflows, testing efficiency, documentation, and overall laboratory operations.Provide technical leadership, training, guidance, and mentorship to QC Analysts and other laboratory scientists.Serve as a technical lead for assigned projects and laboratory initiatives.Collaborate closely with scientists, production personnel, project management, and other technical teams.Prepare tables, figures, reports, and presentations that clearly communicate analytical results and technical conclusions.Present technical results and observations during internal and customer-facing project discussions.Support project planning activities including timelines, forecasting, priorities, and identification of potential project risks.Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory while contributing to continuous improvement of laboratory safety practices.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline with 5+ years of relevant industry experience; OR Master’s/Ph.D. in a related discipline with 2+ years of relevant industry experience.Previous experience working within a GMP or similarly regulated industry strongly preferred, including pharmaceutical, CDMO/CRO, consumer products, specialty chemical, or related environments.Strong hands-on experience with multiple analytical techniques and instrumentation, ideally including HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer, automated titration, NMR, and/or ion chromatography.Strong understanding of analytical instrumentation, data integrity, laboratory documentation, and investigative practices.Experience with analytical method development, optimization, validation, and troubleshooting.Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot instrumentation, analytical methods, software, and unexpected laboratory results.Experience supporting production or manufacturing operations and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.Strong ability to generate, manipulate, analyze, and interpret scientific data.Experience with chromatography/instrumentation software platforms and ability to learn and implement new laboratory software and technology.Strong technical writing skills with experience preparing SOPs, methods, protocols, reports, and presentations.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and related computer applications.Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects and time-sensitive laboratory activities.Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.Key Areas of FocusThe strongest candidates will bring a combination of:Diverse analytical instrumentation and strong laboratory documentation experienceHands-on bench expertise and analytical troubleshooting abilityExperience supporting production/manufacturing operations within a regulated environmentAbility to analyze complex data and translate results into actionable conclusionsExperience implementing or troubleshooting laboratory software, instrumentation, and new technologiesLeadership capabilities with the ability to train and mentor other laboratory personnelInterview ProcessCandidates should expect a multi-step onsite interview process that may include a laboratory panel and practical hands-on assessment designed to evaluate analytical knowledge, instrumentation experience, troubleshooting ability, and practical laboratory skills.
