Location: Palo Alto, CA 94304 (Onsite)Duration: 3 Month Contract to HireCompensation: Up to $74.32/hourAbout the RoleOur client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the team responsible for building and supporting the software that powers one of the world's largest EV fast-charging networks.

This engineer will work on applications running on embedded Linux systems that manage charging site operations, including billing, payment processing, site-level power distribution, cloud communication, and real-time charger management.This is a highly impactful role where you'll contribute to mission-critical systems that directly affect customer experience and the future of electric vehicle adoption. The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex technical challenges, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and has strong experience developing software for embedded or connected device applications.Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain production-quality software using Golang, C++, and/or RustDesign and implement scalable solutions within a microservices architectureSupport product bring-up, commissioning, deployment, and serviceability effortsTroubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on field and production issuesCreate and maintain automated testing frameworks including unit, SIL, and HIL testingCollaborate with validation and hardware teams to develop integration testing strategiesBuild software enabling secure communications between charging infrastructure, cloud services, and customer-facing applicationsContribute to applications that manage payment processing, power distribution, and charger authorization systemsMust-Have Qualifications5+ years of professional software engineering experienceStrong development experience with Golang, C++, C, and/or RustExperience developing software applications on embedded Linux systemsExperience building software for IoT (Internet of Things) platformsStrong understanding of multi-threaded programming and object-oriented design principlesExperience with unit testing and test-driven development (TDD)Experience working with communication and networking protocols including:JSONProtobufgRPCREST APIsHTTP/TLSTCP/UDPCANPreferred QualificationsExperience with EV charging protocols such as:OCPPISO 15118Experience developing software for:Power conversion systemsBattery management systems (BMS)Thermal management controlsOther hardware-integrated or highly physical productsExperience working within large-scale distributed or edge-computing environmentsFamiliarity supporting device-to-cloud communication architectures
