Duties: Managing stable operationsHiring and managing barn and tack up staffOverseeing horse welfare and fitness programsEnsuring competition specific preparation of horsesDeveloping and keeping financial records pertaining to inventory spending and staff costsHorse show entries and horse show daily managementDeveloping training programsProviding care to horsesMaintaining farm machinery and equipmentManaging scheduling of farrier, veterinary, and any follow up care prescribedFormulating inventory management programsManaging purchase of and all vendors for feed supply, hay supply, barn suppliesManaging all indoor arena and outdoor arena maintenanceManaging all staff recruitment, hiring, retention, and schedulingManaging staff performance and performance reviewsFormulating feeding programsFollowing safety and bio-security proceduresRecognizing and treating certain equine health problemsMaintaining equine performance recordsPerforming general farm dutiesDeveloping and implementing the daily routine for all in-barn workTravel to horse shows as required
Requirements
A university degree in animal science, zootechnics, agricultural management or a related field2+ years of relevant experience in barn management2+ years of experience with horse show grooming, including at international competition levelExperience developing daily management routines, training schedules, and feeding programs for show horsesExperience in preventative care, as well as treatment of injuries related, but not limited to, high level competitionsDemonstrated experience managing horse show logistics on-site while coordinating staff and operations at the home farmExperience in cost management exercisesExperience in an office environment performing a role that gives the candidate boarder experience in managing systems, technology and other business elements is considered an assetExperience developing and implementing tracking systems, communications processes, and other streamlined process to increase efficiency is considered an assetWilling to travel required, including attending horse shows of all levels of sanctions including local, national and international competitionsMust be familiar with competitions at the top levelAble to work independently and in a group settingExcellent communication skillsMust be highly efficient and organized individual with a strong work ethicAI Disclosure: We may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with scheduling interviews and managing screening times.
