In addition, we conduct annual employee engagement surveys and take steps to continuously strengthen our employee experience.Position Summary:The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the company’s overall accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data and supports project accounting functions as needed. The ideal candidate has strong, general accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and experience in a construction environment.Key Responsibilities:General Ledger & Financial Reporting Prepare and post journal entries in ERPMaintain and reconcile general ledger accountsPerform monthly bank and credit card reconciliationsAssist with preparation of monthly financial statementsAnalyze GL account activity and investigate variancesAssist with preparation of supporting schedules for auditsMonth-End & Year-End CloseAssist with month-end close procedures and deadlinesReconcile job cost subledger to general ledgerPrepare accruals and prepaid amortization entriesSupport year-end audit and tax preparation processesEnsure proper cutoff procedures are followedAccounts Payable & Receivable Oversight Code and post overhead expenses for timely paymentReview AP batches for accuracy and proper codingSupport vendor setup and compliance documentationAssist with AP & AR reconciliations and collections trackingMonitor retainage balances and aging reportsConstruction & Project SupportReconcile project-related accounts and intercompany transactionsSupport change order and commitment reconciliation processesCalculate and pay Multi entity sales tax obligationsCollaboration & CommunicationMaintain organized financial documentation to support auditsEnsure adherence to accounting policies and internal controlsCoordinate with Operations to ensure accurate financial reportingRespond to vendor and subcontractor inquiriesSupport continuous improvement of accounting processesParticipate in system training and developmentMinimum Qualifications:4+ years of accounting experience (construction experience preferred)Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financeExposure to construction ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint, Procore)Proficiency with Microsoft ExcelStrong attention to detail and communication skillsStrong analytical and critical thinking skillsNote to Recruiters: ***Not accepting recruiting solicitations***With a career at BFL Construction, you will participate in a growing portfolio of diverse and exciting projects.
