Staff Engineer – Cards | Dubai, UAEWe're partnering with one of the UAE's leading FinTech's to hire a Staff Engineer for its Cards Engineering team.This is a hands-on technical leadership role for an experienced engineer who has built modern card products at scale. You'll help shape the architecture and technical direction of one of the bank's most critical customer-facing domains, working across the full card ecosystem.What you'll be doingProvide technical leadership across the Cards domain.Design and build highly scalable, resilient backend systems powering card products.Define architecture, engineering standards, and long-term technical strategy.Mentor senior engineers and influence technical decisions across multiple teams.Work closely with Product, Design, Risk, Operations, and Engineering leadership to deliver new capabilities.Drive reliability, performance, security, and engineering excellence.What we're looking forExperience as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Lead Engineer, or equivalent technical leadership role.Strong experience building card products within a digital bank, fintech, issuer processor, or modern financial institution.Deep knowledge across multiple areas of the cards ecosystem, including:Card issuingCredit and debit cardsVirtual and physical cardsCard lifecycle managementAuthorisation and transaction processingCard controls and customer featuresDigital wallets and tokenisationDisputes and chargebacksFraud and risk controlsRewards, limits, and card servicingVisa and Mastercard integrationsStrong background designing distributed systems, APIs, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native platforms.Proven ability to influence architecture and mentor engineering teams.Nice to haveExperience within leading digital banks or fintechs such as Monzo, Revolut, Starling, Nubank, Wise, Chime, Cash App, or similar.Experience building high-availability, customer-facing financial products at scale.Location & BenefitsDubaiTax-free salary.Annual discretionary bonus.28 days annual leave plus public holidays.Visa and comprehensive medical insurance for you and your family.The opportunity to build products used by hundreds of thousands of customers as part of one of the Middle East's fastest-growing digital banks.If you've built large-scale card platforms and enjoy solving complex technical challenges while leading from the front, I'd be keen to speak with you.
