Spark & Logic is building the AI-native service that lets a small team of bankers run the full sell-side M&A process with remarkable speed, greater depth of work, and better outcomes at deal sizes that large banks have never served well. We need a founding CTO to lead the platform, take it from a working foundational processes to the system every deal runs on, and build the engineering team behind it.ResponsibilitiesDesign and build AI agents that complete multi-step tasks using tools, firm data, and client data.Build internal AI tooling, including custom tools and integrations that agents can use.Build and run evaluation systems that test agent accuracy and reliability, catch regressions, and guide model and prompt changes.Build the infrastructure that runs, monitors, and scales these systems, including orchestration, logging, and cost tracking.Keep outputs grounded in source data and secure highly confidential client information.QualificationsTwo (2) or more years building production systems on large language models, including at least one product used by paying customers.Has built and deployed tool-using agents that complete multi-step workflows in production, with error handling, retries, and state management.Hands-on experience with the Anthropic and/or OpenAI APIs, including tool use, structured outputs, and prompt caching.Has designed and operated an evaluation framework for agent or model outputs, including test sets, automated grading, and regression tracking.Has built production retrieval systems, including embeddings and vector search.Has instrumented AI systems for observability, including tracing, prompt and response logging, and token cost tracking.General Engineering ExperienceFour (4) or more years of professional software engineering experience.Professional proficiency in agent SDKsEmail patrick@spark-and-logic.com with your interest or send me a note on LinkedIn.
