The work is long-form, self-directed, and fully remote. Clear written reasoning matters as much as technical depth.Must-havesSubstantive applied experience, roughly 5+ years, in a science or engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, civil, materials, energy, chemical, environmental, physics, or similar). Real-world or advanced-research workHands-on practice with real data and tools: instrument data, test/measurement files, CAD models, simulation outputs, lab records - and the analysis tools that go with them (MATLAB/Python/R, SolidWorks/AutoCAD, SPICE, GIS, chromatography/spectroscopy software, etc.).Comfort with statistical and experimental reasoning (experiment design, measurement error, common statistical traps). The entry assessment leans on this.Genuine availability for 30–40+ hours/week across the full 12 weeks.Strong written communication; comfortable working independently and fully remote.General familiarity with AI/LLM tools (user-level is fine).The strongest candidates look likeHands-on individual contributors who currently do (or recently did) the technical work themselves - design, test, process, analysis - rather than solely managing others. Across our expert programs this is the single most reliable predictor of success.Independent, consultant, and fractional engineers/scientists. Self-employed and consulting profiles convert and retain dramatically better than any other profile in our adjacent programs.Small-company and startup practitioners, who tend to own their data and analysis end-to-end.Mid-to-late career professionals with real weekly capacity, including semi-retired engineers and scientists who reliably finish what they start.What performs, from our own recruitment dataThis program is new, so we do not yet have STEM-specific listing-title rankings.
