We’re a small team of people who really love what we do, and we believe we can change the world at the same time. We connect travellers to incredible communities, conservationists and artisans across Asia. When we tell their stories (and do it well!), more travellers can find them and support their work.We tell stories about Katni, the first woman guide on Mt Rinjani, who climbed Rinjani when women weren’t allowed to and created jobs for 70 other women in her community. We tell stories about elephant conservationists in Asia who would rather go broke than allow elephant bathing at their sanctuary. We tell stories about people protecting forests, wildlife and heritage that might otherwise disappear. We tell these stories because the more people know, the more they care and (hopefully!) choose differently. They choose to hike the forest instead of cutting it down. They choose to support the artisan instead of letting a craft disappear. Stories are how we can change the world.So if storytelling is your superpower, and you want your work to make a difference in the world, we are really excited to meet you :)Why the role is funWe don’t have layers and layers of bureaucracy at Seek Sophie, and we’re allergic to anything corporate. If you have a playful brand campaign idea - amazing, try it. If you have a hooky content idea or a new way of telling a story on IG - we can’t wait to see it! There’s no fixed way of doing things, just better ways of doing things.Our fave part of our work is getting to work with some of the most inspiring people in Asia. Our hosts are rebels, dreamers and activists, all changing the world in their own way - rewilding Singapore, protecting rare endangered species, and keeping disappearing crafts alive, from tofu making to obscure kueh moulds. We feel really proud that we get to help them grow.Oh yes, and you’ll get to travel and do really cool experiences too, because we test our experiences, meet our hosts and find out their stories!Who we’re looking forHave you written something that made someone cry, laugh or feel something deeply? Can you make someone care about a story they hadn’t even thought about five seconds ago? If so, we’re looking for you!Most of our storytelling happens on Instagram, so you’ll need to know how to turn a great story into a Reel or post that makes someone stop and care. You’ll need a strong eye for design, preferably video-editing skills, and the ability to write hooky copy without relying on AI.You can take an idea from “wouldn’t it be cool if we tried this?” to something real. You can back up your ideas with data, you move fast and you take pride in producing really excellent work. You really care about doing the best work you can, and nothing is ever really “someone else’s problem”.Impact, craftsmanship and excellence are our core values. If they’re yours too, we’d love to meet you.This isn’t for everyoneWe want someone who gets the brand, is energised by what we’re trying to do, and who really wants to make a difference with their work - not someone who’s just watching the clock every day.There’s very little bureaucracy or hierarchy here. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently, taking initiative and figuring things out without waiting for instructions. So if a messy problem makes you curious, great. If it makes you freeze until someone gives you a step-by-step brief, this probably isn’t the right role for you.We’re a small team, so nothing is ever really “someone else’s job”. If you love strategising but don’t want to execute, or if details really aren’t your thing, it’s probably not a great fit.What You’ll Be DoingYour day-to-day will change depending on what we’re working on, but could include:Helping shape how the Seek Sophie brand shows up through campaigns, storytelling and new creative ideasComing up with fresh, original content ideas for Instagram, TikTok and other channelsTaking content from idea to finished piece - including scripting, shooting, editing and publishingInterviewing people and finding the stories behind the experiences we featureBuilding community through comments, DMs, conversations and collaborationsCurating content for email, website and other channelsTravelling occasionally to meet hosts and create content around our experiencesJob requirements Based in Singapore2–5 years of relevant work experienceStrong storytelling instincts - you know how to make people careComfortable shooting, speaking on camera and editing short-form videoAble to take strong photosStrong writing skills and a good eye for designHiring ProcessWe don’t do a screening call at the start. We’ll first look through your application. If we love what we see, we’ll ask you to do a 4-5 hour task so we can see how you think and tell stories. We do it this way because it’s a fairer way to assess your work. Big-name companies and polished CVs can only tell you so much and we’d rather see what you can actually do! Only around 10% of applicants get to this stage. If we love your task too, we’ll invite you in for an interview.
