We offer excellent benefits including health and life insurance, retirement plan, savings/investment plan with employer contribution, flexible spending, flextime scheduling of core work hours, annual and sick leave.FUNCTIONAL PURPOSEServes as a spokesperson for the Postal Service, gathering, writing, editing and disseminating a wide variety of information in response to inquiries from representatives of the news media. Creates and executes a full range of communications programs designed to promote products and services. Provides advice and counsel to District Managers, Plant Managers and their leadership teams on Public Relations and internal and external communications.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Acts as communications liaison to a designated number of districts by maintaining regular contact with senior managers in the Area and District Offices in the geographic area served in order to discover communications issues and plan appropriate programs.2. Provides advice and Counsel to District Managers, Plant Manager and their leadership teams on Public Relations and internal and external communications.3. Represents the Postal Service to the news media in assigned districts. Responds to inquiries; generates positive news coverage through story placement; arranges news conferences and briefings.4. Creates and executes a full range of communications programs designed to promote products and services.5. Promotes Postal Service products and services and generates publicity about them through trade and general interest media. Produces brochures, audiovisual vehicles and conducts special events in support of product publicity efforts at the area, district and local level.6. Develops and executes community relations activities to inform and educate the general public about services provided by the Postal Service.7. Conducts special events to promote Postal Service activities.8. Writes, edits, and designs articles, news releases, speeches, and audio and video scripts, general correspondence, employee publications, and other materials as needed tocommunicate various Postal Service activities, goals and performance. SupportsGovernment Relations activities as appropriate.9. Reviews investigative news reports for items requiring a response.10. Reviews special coverage transcripts and selects those portions suitable for executivereview.11. Arranges news interviews, print broadcast and social media for Postal officials. Offersguidance and training on media relations techniques and provides guidance to district andlocal offices for special event planning.12. Develops promotion and publicity programs to complement the paid and publicservice advertising programs of the Postal Service; coordinates the development andimplementation of on-going and special customer information programs.13. Maintains continuing contact with editors and writers of special interest tradepublications and business press to place editorial material about Postal issues, productsand services.14. Coordinates with a field video unit for production of audiovisual materials to supportcommunications programs.REQUIREMENTS1. Ability to serve as a representative of, and spokesperson for, the organization to thenews media and the public.2. Ability to promote positive publicity about the organization and its products andservices, including placement of material in various media.3. Ability to write various communications, such as articles, news releases, speeches,scripts, and general correspondence concerning company activities, goals, andperformance.4. Ability to develop and implement community relations activities.5. Ability to conduct or advise on special events that promote company activities,including promotion, publicity, and customer information programs.6. Ability to advise senior managers on communications issues and media relationstechniques.7. Ability to coordinate with field video units for the production of audiovisual materials.8. Ability to review and edit news stories and special coverage transcripts to identify issues needing response or further attention from management.9. Ability to arrange interviews, news, print, broadcasts and social media, conferences, and briefings.Reimbursement of relocation expenses will NOT be considered.Qualified applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening to meet the U.S. Postal Service's requirement to be drug free.Applicants must also be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident alien status.
