You'll work in small teams, receive the resources and equipment you need to be successful, and perform high-level structural assembly, modification and repair work on aircraft that support critical missions around the world.Why This Opportunity?$45/hour – competitive pay for experienced Structural TechniciansSplit per diem available for qualified travelersOvertime opportunities available for those looking to maximize their earningsWork directly on C-17 aircraftClean, well-maintained hangar environmentRelaxed, professional work environment without the feel of a large production floorWork in small teams, allowing you to collaborate closely with experienced techniciansIndividual laptop provided to each technician for accessing drawings, technical data, work instructions and company systemsProfessional, team-oriented atmosphere where your experience and craftsmanship are valuedWork alongside experienced aerospace technicians, engineers and quality professionalsContribute to mission-critical aerospace and defense programsWork that has a real purpose and impactOpportunity for travel for qualified candidatesWhat You'll Be DoingAs a Structural Technician IV, you'll use your experience to assemble, modify, repair and inspect structural components and assemblies supporting C-17 aircraft.Responsibilities may include:Perform structural assembly and minor part-fitting operations including filing, sawing, deburring, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling and reamingRead and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, technical manuals and aerospace publicationsTranslate engineering drawings into completed structural assembliesPerform basic layout, precision drilling and countersinkingUse calibrated precision tools to ensure accurate measurements and qualityAlign aircraft parts and assemblies using jigs, templates and fixturesMeasure and verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers and other precision measuring equipmentInstall aerospace fasteners including rivets and Hi-LoksPerform structural modifications and incorporate engineering changes into complete and incomplete assembliesPerform aircraft structural repair and refinishing activities, including airframe corrosion removal when applicableMaintain required edge distance, pitch and other structural specificationsMonitor workmanship and quality throughout assembly and repair operationsPerform various aircraft maintenance duties as requiredCommunicate effectively with team members, team leads, Quality Control and EngineeringMaintain accurate job status and production information within company systemsFollow established safety, quality and technical proceduresWhat We're Looking ForRequired:High school diploma or GED equivalentTypically 10+ years of relevant aerospace structures experienceStrong aircraft structural assembly and repair backgroundAbility to interpret moderately complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and publicationsAdvanced experience with structural assembly and minor part-fitting techniquesExperience with airframe corrosion removal, repair and refinishing, as applicableExperience installing aerospace fasteners, including rivets and Hi-LoksAbility to complete installations while maintaining proper edge distance and fastener pitchMust have and maintain personal tools in good working orderStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityPreferred:C-17 experience strongly preferredAerospace and Defense industry experienceU.S. Department of Defense, NASA or U.S. Military experienceAbility and willingness to travelPrevious experience working in a safety-sensitive aviation environmentAbility to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance, if requiredWork EnvironmentThis position offers a hands-on aerospace environment without the feel of a massive production operation.You'll work as part of small, focused teams where communication is straightforward and experienced technicians can focus on doing quality work. The facility provides a clean and professional hangar environment, and each technician is equipped with their own laptop to access technical documentation, drawings, work instructions and required systems.The team takes pride in maintaining a positive atmosphere where people can do their job, work together and go home knowing they accomplished something meaningful.Physical RequirementsThis position involves the physical demands associated with hands-on aircraft structural work, including:Frequently standing, walking, sitting and climbing stairs/stepsRepetitive hand, arm and finger movementsFrequent use of hand and finger dexterityFrequently lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.Ability to perform work requiring close, distance and depth perceptionExposure to varying temperatures and outdoor elements when requiredOccasional exposure to fumes or hazardous materialsFrequent exposure to aircraft and shop-related noiseWork With PurposeThis isn't just another structures job.You'll be working directly on C-17 aircraft supporting critical aerospace and defense missions.
