I’m working with a highly regarded design studio in Dubai that is continuing to grow on the back of a strong pipeline of architecture and ID projects. As the business grows, they are now looking to add a Studio Director who can take greater ownership of the day-to-day running of the studio and help put the operational structure in place to support its next stage of growth.They are looking for someone from an Interior Design or Architecture background who understands how a design studio functions, but who is particularly strong around people, workflow, resourcing, project oversight and internal organisation.The role will include:Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the studioManaging workflow, project priorities and resource allocation across the teamMaintaining visibility across live projects and identifying potential delivery or resourcing issues earlySupporting project planning and ensuring teams are appropriately structured around workloadImproving internal systems, processes and ways of working as the business growsSupporting performance management, team development and general people-related mattersHelping create greater consistency and accountability across the studioCoordinating recruitment requirements and supporting the integration of new hiresMaintaining strong communication between project teams, clients and external consultantsWorking closely with senior management on operational planning and future growthHelping build the structure, processes and culture required for the studio to continue scalingThe ideal person will be an experienced Interior Designer or Architect who has gradually moved beyond purely project-focused responsibilities and taken increasing ownership of teams, resourcing, workflow and wider studio management.You’ll need to be commercially aware, highly organised and comfortable making decisions at senior level. You should understand the pressures of project delivery and creative environments, but be motivated by improving how the wider studio operates rather than remaining focused purely on design.
