Stylist & Visual Merchandiser – Wholesale + Retail
GRACE+EMMA · Carrollton, TX
Apply & track with Apply EdgeHi there--I'm going to dump the background of our company, what we actually need, and what this role is really like. If you read through all of this and think, "Yep, that's me," then please apply! Background:We are an apparel, jewelry, accessories & gift company based in Carrollton, TX.We have 2 brands: GRACE+EMMA, our trendy/contemporary women's line with a strong specialty/holiday business, and Southern Grace, our Western/Country/Boho line.We sell wholesale to boutiques and retailers across the country, exhibit at wholesale trade shows, operate permanent showroom spaces, and currently have 2 retail stores in Grapevine & McKinney. The owners are the CEO & COO of the business and are VERY involved in the day-to-day. You'll work directly with us, our Head Designer, Sales Team, Marketing Team, and Store Managers. We're a growing company, which also means we're constantly changing, improving, experimenting, and occasionally figuring things out as we go.Requirements:This is an IN-PERSON role. You will either be at our office/warehouse in Carrollton, at our stores in Grapevine or McKinney, or traveling for trade shows/showrooms. This is absolutely not a work-from-home position.Traveling to and working trade shows is a must, particularly Dallas & Atlanta, along with occasional shows in other cities.Trade shows aren't glamorous behind the scenes. There will be boxes, racks, fixtures, setup, teardown, steaming, merchandising, moving things around 15 times until they look right, and long days on your feet. You must be comfortable lifting merchandise/fixtures and being on your feet for extended periods. Some weeks will be pretty easygoing. Other weeks, especially around markets, store openings, photoshoots, or major launches, can be 60+ hour weeks.Retail expansion is always a possibility. We don't currently have another store opening on the calendar, but this role would be heavily involved if/when we do.You need to be comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment where not everything comes with a perfectly written SOP.Most importantly: we're looking for someone who sees something that needs to be better and DOES something about it instead of waiting for someone to assign it to them. The Role:Design, merchandise & continuously improve our trade show booths, including Dallas and other temporary market spaces.Help design and merchandise our permanent Atlanta & Dallas showroom spaces so they actually SELL product—not just look pretty.Work directly with our Store Managers to create incredible window displays, merchandising moments, feature walls, tables, mannequins, and seasonal installations.Create mannequin looks that tell a story and actually teach customers how to style our pieces.Make sure our stores feel intentional, full, exciting, and consistently "us"—not like merchandise was simply put wherever there was an empty rack.Regularly walk our stores and showrooms with fresh eyes. What's boring? What's confusing? What's being overlooked? What's not selling because we're presenting it poorly?Help establish visual merchandising standards so our stores, showrooms, and trade show spaces feel connected even when different people are running them.Work with the owners and Head Designer to identify holes in collections, opportunities we're missing, and ways we can improve upcoming designs. We don't want someone who thinks product development is "the designer's job." If you see that we need a certain necklace, layering piece, graphic, accessory, color, gift item, or styling piece to complete a collection—we want you speaking up.Style outfits for photoshoots using apparel, jewelry, accessories, shoes, props, layering pieces, and whatever else makes the shot work.Help our Marketing Team create physical sets, displays, styling moments, and content environments that make our products look amazing.Pay attention to what customers are actually responding to in stores, at markets, and online—and bring those observations back to Design, Sales & Ownership.Help prepare stores/showrooms for important events, launches, markets, holidays, and high-traffic weekends.Jump in when something needs to get done. We're a small enough company that occasionally everyone has to help with things that aren't technically in their job description. What We're REALLY Looking For:We need someone who has OWNERSHIP.Someone who can walk into a store or in our trade show spaces and immediately start noticing things."That mannequin needs a necklace.""Those colors should be together.""Why is our best seller buried back here?""This table doesn't make sense.""We need something hanging above this.""This collection needs one more piece.""This booth doesn't stop people walking down the aisle."And then instead of just pointing it out—you start fixing it.We're not looking for someone who needs the CEO, COO, or Store Manager to create a checklist every morning. We're looking for someone who creates the checklist and starts doing it.
