WhizzHR is hiring a Mid-Level Substation Automation Engineer in DubaiJob SummaryWe are looking for a Mid-Level Substation Automation Engineer with hands-on experience in Substation Automation Systems (SAS), SCADA, IED integration, communication protocols, and commissioning.The role involves independently executing configuration, integration, testing, and commissioning activities across substation, oil & gas, and renewable energy projects in the UAE.Key ResponsibilitiesConfigure and commission RTU, BCU, HMI, and gateway servers for Substation Automation Systems.Configure and integrate IEDs/MFTs from multiple manufacturers with SCADA systems.Work with communication protocols including IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, and IEC 60870-5-101/104.Configure Layer 2 and Layer 3 Ethernet switches and routers for SAS networks.Troubleshoot communication and networking issues within substation automation systems.Configure special functions and application/reporting requirements on SCADA/HMI systems.Lead FAT and SAT activities for SAS panels, IEDs, and integrated systems.Prepare test reports and coordinate approvals with clients.Support retrofit and augmentation projects, including integration of numerical relays/IEDs with existing DCS/SCADA systems.Provide automation support for oil & gas, solar, and other energy projects.Coordinate with design, testing, and commissioning teams.Guide and mentor junior engineers during site activities.Required Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics & Instrumentation, or Control Engineering.4–8 years of relevant experience in substation automation, SCADA/IED integration, or control systems.Strong knowledge of IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, and/or IEC 60870-5-101/104.Hands-on experience configuring and integrating multi-vendor IEDs/MFTs with SCADA.Good understanding of Ethernet networking, switches, and routers used in SAS environments.Experience in testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and site execution.Technical Skills & ToolsSCADA/HMI and gateway configuration toolsMulti-vendor IED/relay configuration softwareRelay testing equipment such as OmicronAutoCADMS OfficePreferred ExperienceExperience with GIS substationsExposure to 765kV-level systemsExperience in solar power plant or oil & gas automation projectsVendor-specific SAS/SCADA certificationsBehavioural CompetenciesAbility to work independently and manage prioritiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to mentor junior engineersGood written and verbal communication skills in EnglishStrong teamwork and accountabilitySafety-first approachWillingness to work at project/site locations as requiredWhat We OfferCompetitive salary and benefits packageVisa and medical insurance as per company policyAnnual leave and air ticket as per company policyTraining and career development opportunitiesExposure to large-scale substation, energy, oil & gas, and renewable projectsKindly share your Resume hello@Whizzhr.com
