It is now entering a new stage of growth, strengthening its financial structure and internal processes to support scale and long-term stability.The company owns and commercially manages a diversified dry bulk fleet ranging from Handysize to Capesize, and provides time charter, voyage and operational solutions to shipowners and charterers across the world's major dry bulk trades. The group moves in excess of 19 million metric tons of cargo annually, operates around 80+ vessels globally, and concludes more than 300 cargo fixtures a year.The Fleet Operations team is responsible for the day-to-day commercial and operational management of the group's dry bulk fleet, working closely with Chartering, Technical, and Post-Fixture functions.
Role Summary
The Supercargo is responsible, from The Company's Athens office, for calculating/verifying and optimizing pre-stowage plans for the group's dry bulk carriers before pre-stowage plan is submitted to the charterers/ agents before loading commenced, ensuring each plan complies with stability, stress, draft, and load-line requirements. This is primarily a desk-based role: the Supercargo supports vessels remotely, by written correspondence and phone, rather than attending ports in person. No prior experience in a specific trading region is required — the role covers the group's dry bulk fleet globally.
Key Responsibilities
Calculate and verify cargo/stowage plans for dry bulk vessels, covering hatch allocation, loading/discharging sequence, and de-ballasting, in line with each vessel's stability booklet.Check that planned cargo intake stays within stability, hull stress (shear force / bending moment), trim, draft, and load-line (Plimsoll) limits.Correspond in writing and speak by phone with the vessel's Master/Chief Officer to clarify and resolve cargo-plan questions before and during loading/discharging.Cross-check loaded cargo quantities against draft surveys, and mate's receipts, and reconcile discrepancies with the vessel.Coordinate cargo-plan requirements with the Chartering and Fleet Operations teams ahead of each voyage, factoring in charter party terms and port/terminal restrictions.Monitor cargo operations for compliance with the IMSBC Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and relevant flag/classification society requirements as they apply to bulk cargo handling.Support the Post-Fixture and Claims teams with technical cargo calculations in the event of disputes, such as shortage/excess claims or stability and stress-related incidents.Maintain organized records of cargo plans, stowage calculations, and related correspondence for each vessel and voyage.
Requirements
Minimum 3-5+ years of relevant maritime experience, in one of the following backgrounds:Chief Officer, with hands-on experience calculating cargo plans on dry bulk vessels and solid knowledge of vessel construction; orSupercargo, with hands-on experience preparing and verifying cargo plans and strong knowledge of bulk carrier fleet structure and specifics.No requirement for prior experience in a specific trading region: global dry bulk cargo-plan experience is acceptable.Strong communication and negotiation skills, including both verbal and written fluency in English (from B1+) and Russian;Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to work accurately under time pressure.
