Headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, EGI is building a secure, domestic supply chain to support the growing demand for high-performance batteries in drone, eVTOL, and robotics markets.Position SummaryEGI Battery is seeking a Supply Chain Coordinator to support the day-to-day execution of the company’s distribution operation. This role is the second member of a growing supply chain team and will work directly alongside the current Supply Chain Manager and Accountant to keep product moving from the contract manufacturer to customers and ensure payments are made and received timely.The Supply Chain Coordinator will work at every level of the procure-to-pay process: placing and confirming orders with the contract manufacturer, booking inbound and outbound freight, monitoring inventory, issuing and organizing purchase orders and invoices, and processing payments to carriers and suppliers. The role partners closely with Accounting to ensure every transaction is tracked, completed, and recorded accurately.This is a hands-on position for someone who is highly organized, comfortable moving between a desk and a warehouse floor, and motivated by the opportunity to help build the operating rhythm of a fast-growing U.S. battery company. The ideal candidate will not meet all the qualifications but should demonstrate the desire to learn quickly and grow with the company.Key Responsibilities· Place and manage purchase orders: Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders for new product, ensuring pricing, quantities, part numbers, and delivery dates are accurate and approved before release.· Coordinate with manufacturing: Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for EGI’s manufacturing; confirm order acknowledgements, monitor production and readiness dates, and communicate schedule changes to internal stakeholders across time zones.· Book inbound transportation: Arrange ocean and air freight to U.S. destinations; coordinate with freight forwarders and customs brokers, and ensure shipping documentation is complete and compliant for lithium battery shipments.· Book outbound transportation: Schedule LTL, FTL, parcel shipments based on customers service requirements.· Track and reconcile inventory: Maintain accurate inventory records across warehousing partners, monitor stock levels against demand, flag shortages or aging inventory, and support cycle counts and physical inventory reconciliation.· Manage carrier and supplier payments: Review freight invoices for accuracy against booked rates, resolve discrepancies with carriers, and process payments on schedule in coordination with Accounting.· Organize purchase orders and invoices: Maintain a clean, auditable filing structure for purchase orders, commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and customs documentation so records are easy to retrieve for finance, customers, and audits.· Partner with Accounting: Work closely with the accounting team to ensure purchases and freight costs are tracked, completed, and recorded correctly, and support month-end close as needed.· Support warehousing partners: Communicate inbound receipts and outbound release instructions to third-party warehouses, verify receiving accuracy, and resolve discrepancies quickly.· Handle hands-on warehouse and shipping tasks: Assist with occasional receiving, picking, packing, labeling, palletizing, and strapping shipments of battery cells as operational needs require.· Manage ad-hoc purchasing: Source and purchase office supplies, packaging materials, and other operational items, keeping spend organized and documented.· Improve how the operation runs: Identify recurring bottlenecks in the procure-to-pay process and help build simple, repeatable procedures, trackers, and templates that scale as volume grows.Qualifications· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.· 1+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics, purchasing, or order management, ideally in a distribution, manufacturing, or import environment.· Experience creating and managing purchase orders, reviewing invoices, and supporting accounts payable processes.· Working knowledge of domestic freight modes (parcel, LTL, FTL) and experience booking shipments with carriers or brokers.· Familiarity with international shipping concepts, including Incoterms, customs clearance, commercial invoices, packing lists, and freight forwarder coordination.· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.· Exceptional attention to detail and organizational discipline, particularly when handling financial documentation and inventory records.· Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with external partners and suppliers.· Ability to prioritize competing requests and maintain follow-through in a fast-moving, resource-constrained environment.Preferred Qualifications· Experience shipping lithium batteries or other Class 9 hazardous materials, including DOT or IATA hazmat training· Experience working with third-party logistics providers or bonded warehousing.Perks & Benefits· Medical, dental, and vision insurance through BCBS· 100% 401(k) match up to 5% of base salaryPhysical Demands· Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move boxes of battery cells weighing up to 50 pounds.· Ability to occasionally build, wrap, and strap pallets, and to operate or assist with standard warehouse material handling equipment.CompensationThe base salary range for this position is $55,000 -$75,000, with final compensation determined based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and other relevant factors.
