This role is accountable for establishing robust operational norms, driving continuous process improvement through systemic audits, and spearheading digitization projects to build a future-ready, data-driven supply chain ecosystem for the Mumbai region and pan-India operations.2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Network Planning & Norm ManagementNetwork Architecture: Define, design, and constantly refine the optimal distribution network for all products flowing from manufacturing plants to depots, balancing cost, service levels, and lead times.Norm Standardization: Establish and govern inventory norms (Minimum Stock Levels, Maximum Stock Levels, Reorder Points, and Safety Stock) across all nodes (plants, warehouses, and depots) in alignment with organizational policies.Supply Constraint Management: Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Operations to dynamically modify the distribution network in response to real-time supply constraints, raw material shortages, or production disruptions.Desirable Inventory Reduction: Continuously review node-wise inventory norms and aging stock; drive necessary interventions to systematically reduce undesirable, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory without compromising service levels.Space Planning & Budgeting: Lead the annual and quarterly space planning exercises for warehouses and depots; develop and manage the associated logistics budget, ensuring cost optimization.Sales Loss Analysis: Conduct monthly analysis of sales losses due to stock-outs or network inefficiencies; identify root causes and implement remedial strategies to recover lost revenue.Service Reviews: Own the weekly service review process, monitoring delivery performance against plan and escalating critical bottlenecks for immediate resolution.S&OP Leadership: Actively participate in the monthly Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings, providing critical supply-side inputs, inventory projections, and network capacity assessments to align demand with supply.B. Audit & GovernanceSystem Audits: Design and execute periodic, comprehensive audits of all supply chain systems, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) across plants and depots.Gap Identification: Thoroughly assess audit findings to identify systemic gaps, process deviations, and compliance failures within warehousing, logistics, and inventory management.Continuous Improvement (CI): Drive a rigorous continuous improvement agenda based on audit outcomes. Prioritize corrective actions and track them to closure via robust CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) mechanisms.Governance Framework: Establish a strong governance framework with clear escalation matrices, ensuring strict adherence to organizational policies and regulatory trade compliances.C. Projects & DigitizationProject Identification: Continuously scout for improvement opportunities and pain points within the supply chain; prioritize high-impact areas for process re-engineering and technological intervention.Project Planning & Execution: Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of improvement projects—from business case development and ROI justification to vendor selection, pilot testing, and full-scale rollout.Digitization Initiatives: Spearhead the digitization of the supply chain by implementing advanced tools such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), real-time tracking dashboards, and analytics control towers.Change Management: Drive user adoption of new digital tools by working closely with cross-functional teams (IT, Operations, Sales) and providing adequate training and support to ground-level staff.4. Qualifications & ExperienceEducation:MBA in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or Logistics from a premier institute (Tier 1/Tier 2).B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering is highly preferred.Additional certifications in Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), CPIM (Certified in Production & Inventory Management), or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) are a strong advantage.Experience:10–15 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain Management, encompassing Network Planning, Inventory Management, Warehousing, and Logistics within a large-scale manufacturing environment (FMCG, Paints, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, or Automotive).Minimum 5 years in a leadership role handling pan-India or multi-plant distribution networks.Proven track record of successfully driving large-scale digitization projects (e.g., SAP EWM implementation, TMS integration, or BI dashboard rollouts).Extensive experience in conducting process audits and managing S&OP cycles.Industry Preference: Manufacturing / FMCG / Durable Goods / Chemical sector.5. Key Competencies & Behavioral TraitsStrategic Network Design: Ability to balance cost, service, and inventory using advanced quantitative modeling.Analytical & Data-Driven: Proficiency in advanced Excel, Power BI/Tableau, and statistical analysis for demand-supply reconciliation.Stakeholder Management: Exceptional ability to collaborate with Manufacturing, Sales, Finance, and IT departments to achieve unified business goals.Regulatory & Compliance Acumen: Sound understanding of local excise, GST, and interstate movement regulations impacting distribution.Agility & Resilience: Capacity to re-plan networks swiftly in response to dynamic supply constraints and market volatility.Digital Evangelism: Passion for leveraging technology to drive transparency, automation, and predictive decision-making.
