Facilities include Optim Medical Center-Screven, Optim Surgery Center, and the nationally recognized, physician-owned Optim Medical Center-Tattnall.Role Description This full-time, on-site Surgical Technician role is based in Brunswick, GA. The Surgical Technician supports surgeons and the operating room team by preparing surgical suites, ensuring all instruments and supplies are sterile and available, and assisting with patient positioning and draping. Daily responsibilities include maintaining aseptic technique, handling surgical instruments during procedures, counting sponges and instruments, and collaborating with nurses and surgeons to promote safe, efficient operations. The role also involves cleaning and restocking operating rooms, checking equipment functionality, and adhering to hospital policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements. The Surgical Technician contributes to a culture of safety and compassionate care by communicating clearly, anticipating needs during surgery, and supporting continuous quality improvement efforts.Qualifications Clinical and technical skills: demonstrated competence in sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room procedures.Patient care and safety: ability to follow infection control protocols, maintain a safe environment, and support patients before and after procedures within scope of practice.Teamwork and communication: strong collaboration skills with surgeons, nurses, and other staff, with clear, professional communication in fast-paced settings.Organization and attention to detail: skill in preparing surgical suites, managing instrument counts, documenting accurately, and prioritizing tasks efficiently.Adaptability and professionalism: capacity to remain calm under pressure, respond to changing surgical needs, and uphold ethical and confidentiality standards.Education and certification: completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program; certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or required per state or facility policy.Experience: prior operating room or surgical services experience in hospital or ambulatory surgery settings strongly preferred.Additional qualifications: current BLS certification, familiarity with orthopedic procedures and pain medicine services is a plus, and commitment to ongoing professional development.
