The System Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and supporting client and internal IT infrastructure, including servers, endpoints, identity systems, cloud services, backups, and networks. They will troubleshoot escalated technical issues, implement system changes, maintain documentation, and help ensure reliable, secure, and efficient technology operations.Requirements- Hands-on experience administering Windows Server and Windows desktop environments.- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Entra ID, and user access management.- Ability to manage Active Directory, Group Policy, user accounts, permissions, and authentication services.- Experience deploying, configuring, patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting servers, endpoints, and business applications.- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Wi-Fi, VPNs, firewalls, and routing concepts.- Experience with virtualization and cloud platforms such as Hyper-V, VMware, Microsoft Azure, or comparable technologies.- Ability to manage backups, verify recovery readiness, and assist with business continuity and disaster recovery procedures.- Familiarity with endpoint management, remote monitoring and management, antivirus or EDR, and ticketing systems.- Ability to document system configurations, troubleshooting steps, changes, procedures, and resolutions clearly.- Ability to follow change-management procedures, comply with company security policies, and escalate incidents appropriately.- Availability to work full-time on-site in Chicago, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.Qualifications- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.- Two or more years of experience in systems administration, network administration, infrastructure support, managed IT services, or a related technical role is preferred.- Relevant professional certifications, such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, VMware, or Cisco certifications, are a plus.- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, written communication, and verbal communication skills.- Ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical users.- Strong attention to detail and a security-focused, service-oriented approach.- Ability to prioritize multiple incidents, requests, projects, and maintenance activities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.- Willingness to participate in planned maintenance or occasional after-hours support when required.- Commitment to continuing education and professional development.In additional to administering traditional third party cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), this role will be responsible for deploying and administering several open source technologies.
