We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer at L2 level to join our Infrastructure & Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operational support, administration, and continuous improvement of our enterprise infrastructure environment. This role demands deep technical expertise across server hardware, storage, backup, messaging, and Windows platform technologies, underpinned by a strong adherence to ITIL best practices.Key Responsibilities1. Server & Hardware OperationsInstall, configure, administer, and support Dell PowerEdge server infrastructure across physical and virtual environments.Manage GPU hardware resources including driver management, firmware updates, and performance optimisation for AI/ML or compute-intensive workloads.Perform hardware diagnostics, fault isolation, and coordinate warranty replacements with Dell support (ProSupport/OpenManage).Maintain server lifecycle documentation including asset inventory, firmware baselines, and configuration standards.2. Storage Administration — Pure StorageAdminister Pure Storage FlashArray/FlashBlade including provisioning, volume management, and replication configuration.Monitor storage performance, capacity, and health via Purity and Pure1 interfaces.Manage snapshots, clones, and data protection policies; coordinate with application teams for storage-related changes.Engage with Pure Storage support for escalations, upgrades, and bug remediation.3. Backup & Recovery — CommvaultAdminister Commvault backup infrastructure including CommServe, MediaAgents, and backup policies across physical, virtual, and cloud workloads.Monitor backup job success, investigate failures, and maintain SLA compliance for backup and recovery.Execute and validate restore operations including full server, file-level, and application-aware recoveries (SQL, Exchange).Perform Commvault upgrades, hotfix deployment, and configuration reviews according to best practices.4. Active Directory & Identity ServicesAdminister Active Directory including domain controllers, GPOs, OUs, and replication health.Manage user accounts, security groups, service accounts, and role-based access controls following least-privilege principles.Troubleshoot AD authentication, Kerberos/NTLM, DNS, and LDAP-related incidents.Support AD schema changes, domain trusts, and forest/domain-level operations.5. Exchange Mail ServerAdminister Microsoft Exchange Server (on-premises or hybrid) including mailbox management, database maintenance, and transport configuration.Investigate and resolve mail flow issues, message queue backlogs, and connector problems.Manage DAG health, perform failovers, and oversee Exchange maintenance windows.Apply cumulative and security updates in line with change management processes.6. Windows Operating SystemAdminister Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 including roles such as DHCP, DNS, IIS, File Services, and Remote Desktop.Manage Windows patching cycles using WSUS, SCCM, or similar tools, ensuring patch compliance.Perform OS-level troubleshooting including event log analysis, performance diagnostics, and root cause identification.Enforce security hardening standards and CIS benchmarks across the server estate.7. Cluster Configuration & High AvailabilityConfigure and manage Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) for highly available workloads (e.g. SQL Server, File Services).Monitor cluster health, quorum configuration, and node membership; respond to cluster alerts and failover events.Perform planned failovers for maintenance and validate cluster integrity post-change.Troubleshoot cluster networking, shared storage, and heartbeat issues.8. SQL Server ManagementProvide L2 operational support for Microsoft SQL Server instances across production, UAT, and development.Monitor SQL health metrics including performance, blocking, deadlocks, tempdb usage, and log growth.Manage SQL backups, index maintenance, integrity checks, and job scheduling via SQL Server Agent.Support DBA teams with patching, configuration, and storage provisioning for database workloads.9. ITIL Process AdherenceManage and resolve incidents to SLA targets, ensuring accurate categorisation, prioritisation, and communication.Author and submit Requests for Change, including technical implementation and rollback plans.Conduct structured Problem Management investigations using root cause analysis techniques.Maintain CMDB records and contribute to knowledge base articles for repeat incidents.Participate in post-incident reviews and contribute to service improvement plans.10. Automation & Continuous ImprovementDevelop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate operational tasks such as provisioning, health checks, and reporting.Identify opportunities for process automation and tooling improvements and contribute to the automation roadmap.Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce manual effort and improve reliability.Document automation runbooks and ensure peer review before production deployment.Required Skills & Experience4+ years of experience in systems engineering or infrastructure operations at L2 level.Expertise with Dell PowerEdge server hardware and Dell OpenManage.Hands-on experience with GPU hardware management (preferably NVIDIA).Proficiency with Pure Storage FlashArray and related management tools.Strong knowledge of Commvault backup administration and recovery.Deep expertise in Active Directory, GPOs, replication, DNS, and identity troubleshooting.Operational experience with Microsoft Exchange Server (on-premises and/or hybrid).Advanced Windows Server administration across 2016, 2019, and 2022.Experience with Windows Server Failover Clustering.Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration and monitoring.Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation.ITIL & Process SkillsSolid understanding and practical application of ITIL Incident, Change, and Problem Management.Experience with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or equivalent.Ability to create clear change documentation, risk assessments, and rollback plans.Soft SkillsStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills; able to work under pressure during major incidents.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including explaining technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset and proactive risk identification.Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.CertificationsITIL Foundation v3 ITIL Practitioner or higher desirable.Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or equivalent.Dell Technologies Certified Systems Associate (DCSA) or higher.Pure Storage Certified Administrator (PSCA).Commvault Certified Professional (CCP) or equivalent training.Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator AssociateMCSE / MCSA or equivalent legacy Microsoft certifications
