Title: System Medical Director of Physician AdvisorsSummary:An expansive multi-hospital system is seeking an executive clinician for the role of System Medical Director of Physician Advisors. Reporting directly to the Chief Physician Executive for Hospital-Based Care, this non-clinical leadership role oversees nine board-certified physician advisors to align revenue cycle, CDI, and care coordination workflows. Your core mandate: spearhead system strategy around medical necessity compliance, patient flow, denial management, and ongoing clinician engagement.Day to Day:Team Leadership: Oversee, mentor, and direct a team of nine board-certified physician advisors across the health system.Committee Leadership: Serve as Chair of the System Utilization Review Committee.Case Review & Escalation: Evaluate complex, escalated cases involving medical necessity, patient status determination (inpatient vs. observation), quality concerns, and resource utilization.Physician Education & Coaching: Develop educational curricula and deliver training for medical staff regarding CMS regulations, payer requirements, MCG/InterQual criteria, and clinical documentation integrity.Performance & Trend Analysis: Analyze system-wide data on payer denials, patient status accuracy, and avoidable delays to implement actionable performance improvement plans.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with executive, quality, and operational leaders to streamline patient throughput, reduce readmissions, and optimize care coordination workflows.Shift:Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PMWork Structure: Hybrid model (2–3 days remote per week)Qualifications:Education: MD, DO, or MBBS degree required.Licensure: Active Florida medical license in good standing (or eligible).Clinical Experience: Minimum of 5 years of active clinical practice (inpatient experience strongly preferred).Leadership Experience: Proven track record managing physician advisors within a multi-hospital system and operating within a large, complex healthcare organizationCertification: Physician Advisor Certification (ACPA-C or ABQAURP) required within 6–12 months of hire if not already held.Technical & Soft Skills (Preferred): Familiarity with Epic EHR, InterQual, and MCG criteria.
