Apply & track with Apply EdgeSystem Performance Architect – OS / Kernel Performance📍 Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands🏢 Industry: ICT🎯 Seniority: Senior / Expert🔧 Focus: OS Performance · Kernel · CPU/GPU · System Scheduling · Hardware-Software OptimizationAbout the RoleA leading international company in the ICT and Telecommunications industry is looking for an experienced System Performance Architect to work on advanced operating system performance and hardware-software optimization.You will focus on improving system speed, responsiveness, power efficiency and thermal performance, working at the intersection of operating systems, kernel technologies and device hardware.This is a highly technical role for someone with strong experience in OS-level performance optimization, system scheduling and hardware-software co-optimization.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop advanced hardware-software-chip co-optimization and integrated scheduling solutions.Optimize CPU, GPU and DDR/memory scheduling, including priority management, task grouping and core selection.Design and improve frequency scaling mechanisms and kernel/hardware co-optimization strategies.Optimize system scheduling while balancing performance, power consumption and thermal constraints.Drive technical solutions from architecture and design through to implementation on end devices.Analyze and optimize application performance at OS level, identifying and resolving critical performance bottlenecks.Improve application responsiveness, interaction efficiency and animation smoothness.Design and optimize high-performance core system modules.Research high-performance APIs, application development paradigms and runtime optimization techniques.Contribute to the development of high-performance application frameworks.Track emerging industry technologies and academic research and translate relevant developments into future technical roadmaps.What We’re Looking ForStrong hands-on experience in operating system performance optimization, system scheduling, kernel development and/or hardware-software-chip co-optimization.Experience with areas such as:CPU/GPU/DDR schedulingTask schedulingPriority managementCore selectionFrequency scaling / DVFSPower optimizationThermal-aware schedulingDeep understanding of OS-level application performance and performance bottleneck analysis.Experience optimizing critical system modules and improving overall application responsiveness and user experience.Knowledge of high-performance APIs, runtime optimization and performance-oriented framework design.Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to turn complex technical designs into measurable performance improvements.Ability to follow emerging technologies and research and translate them into practical technical solutions and roadmaps.Strong English communication skills and ability to collaborate with international research, engineering and product teams.LocationThe position is based in Amsterdam.Candidates should either be currently based in Amsterdam or willing to relocate to Amsterdam.Ideal BackgroundProfiles coming from System Performance Engineering, OS Performance Engineering, Kernel Performance Engineering, System Software Engineering or SoC Performance Engineering environments would be particularly relevant.
