Classroom size is up to 12 students!You'll collaborate with our multidisciplinary team, including embedded clinical and behavior colleagues, to create supportive inclusive learning environments where students with autism, ADHD, emotional/behavioral disorders, and learning disabilities can thrive.This position reports to the Head of School.As a Special Education Teacher, you will:Design and implement dynamic, differentiated instruction and individualized learning plans aligned to Common CoreDevelop deep understanding of each student's learning profile using formal and informal assessments, psychoeducational data, and progress monitoring toolsCreate and implement IEPs, behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and accommodations/modificationsPartner with Behavior Specialists to implement our schoolwide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS/PBT) systemTrack student progress through formal and informal assessments, maintaining comprehensive portfolios and recordsLead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong family engagement and communicationCreate and update IEP goals and progress summaries with clarity and insightPresent student progress and proposed goals at IEP meetings with confidence and expertiseAdminister California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and other standardized assessmentsCo-facilitate team meetings and support paraprofessionals/instructional aidesParticipate in supervision and professional development opportunitiesAttend all required meetings and uphold school policies, educational codes, and confidentiality standardsMaintain commitment to child safety, mandated reporting duty, and professional boundaries.Maintain your special education credential through continuing educationWhat we're looking for:Passion for curriculum development and implementing effective instructional strategiesExpertise with assessment tools for identifying and supporting students with special needsCreativity in adapting curriculum to address diverse learning profilesSkill in establishing data-driven progress monitoring systems that inform instructional decisionsAbility to develop comprehensive IEPs that address skill deficits while aligning with Common Core standardsCollaborative mindset and leadership skills to work effectively on interdisciplinary teamsAbout your background (education/experience):Valid California Special Education Teaching Credential (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe) or intern credentialAt minimum, an intern-level credential (Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field preferred)Experience in a special education classroom, resource specialist program (RSP), or inclusion settingBackground working with students with emotional/behavioral challenges, autism, and learning differencesExperience implementing Common Core Curriculum, Universal Design for Learning, and differentiated instructionDemonstrated ability to create accommodations that optimize each student's learning experienceStrong interpersonal and communication skills, including IEP writing and presentationComfort with technology systems (G-suite, Outlook) and incorporating technology into instructionEffective classroom management skillsWorking Conditions:Physical Requirements:Ability to complete Safety Care crisis management system trainingAbility to stand and sit for extended periods during instruction and supervisionSpecial Job Requirements:Availability for evening events (Back to School Night, Art Show, Achievement Night, staff training, IEP meetings)Valid CA driver's license preferredContact with Others:Clear and effective oral and written communication skillsAbility to articulate expectations to classroom team and studentsCompensation:Range: $75,000 - $112,000 per yearPay Type: salary* The starting base salary for this position is as shown above. The actual base salary is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand.
