WTP is a nationally recognized nonprofit year round theatre program that runs classes and production rehearsals in Wellesley, MA. Students range from 4-18 years old. Foundations Of Musical Theatre, (8 Weeks)This class will introduce the core concepts of Musical Theatre! Students will learn choreography, dance technique, singing and breathing techniques, as well as learning how to perform confidently on stage. They will learn how to notate blocking, project their voice, and many other skills required of musical theatre actors. All students at Wellesley Theatre Project need to have this foundation before performing in a full production. 2nd-4th Graders Mondays 4:00pm-5:30pm​9/28, 10/5, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23*No class on 10/12 for Indigenous Peoples' Day2nd-4th Graders Mondays 6:15pm-7:45pm9/28, 10/5, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23*No class on 10/12 for Indigenous Peoples' Day2nd-4th Graders Tuesdays 4:00pm-5:30pm9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/102nd-5th GradersSaturdays 10:00am-12:00pm10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21---------------------------Theatre explorers, (8 Weeks)​​This class will introduce theatrical concepts to our newest actors, and build creative skills for our returning ones. Students will use their curiosity to create stories and characters through games, storytelling, and crafts. Students will learn how to perform a scene with blocking and props. This is a perfect class to take before or simultaneously with an enrollment show. It will provide the building blocks needed to be a successful actor at WTP and beyond.4th-6th Graders Mondays 5:30pm-6:30pm ---------------------------Musical Theatre Workshop, 3RD-5TH GRADE (8 Weeks)Enhance your singing, dancing and acting skills with this class that will prepare you for the stage! Students will learn song and dance numbers as well as scenes from popular musicals. Students 3rd-5th Grade will need to have taken Foundations of Musical Theatre before taking this class.Tuesdays 6:15pm-7:45pm 9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10---------------------------Page To Stage, Pre K, (8 Weeks)8 WEEKSEvery week a new story comes to life through creative drama, movement activities, and arts and crafts. Students will engage in an interactive exploration of storytelling drawing inspiration from the book of the week. This class utilizes the student's creativity and teaches them how to tell a story as a group, which is the basic foundation of theatre.Tuesdays 4:00pm-5:00pm9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10Wednesdays 4:00pm-5:00pm9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4, 11/18---------------------------Theatre In A Trunk, Kindergarten-1st Grade, (8 Weeks)A new adventure begins each week as actors discover treasures in a trunk and bring characters to life through creative drama and movement. Students will learn how to work together as a group and create original stories through making crafts, working with different props, and playing theatre games. Thursdays 4:00pm-5:00pm9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12---------------------------Prospective candidates must:Have a background in drama, dance, musical theatre, and/or theatre education with considerable experience as a Teaching Artist or Educator.Experience working with children and/or teaching.Bachelor’s degree, or higher preferred, in the relevant area of drama/theatre arts.Knowledge of classroom management.In addition to the duties listed above, Wellesley Theatre Project expects the following of each employee: adheres to policies and procedures; works to create a positive learning environment for the students; be a role model of professional theatre etiquette; works in a safe manner; performs duties as workload necessitates; maintains a positive and respectful attitude; communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues; demonstrates efficient time management and prioritizes workload; demonstrates regular and consistent attendance and punctuality; participates in Wellesley Theatre Project events as needed or required; and completes other duties as assigned.For more information on the organization, please visit www.wellesleytheatreproject.org.
