Older adults are engaged as keepers of culture and dynamic role models who help guide and inspire younger generations.Role Description The Teaching Artist is a part-time/Contract, on-site role based in Cleveland, OH, responsible for planning and delivering engaging arts-based classes and workshops for children, youth, teens, and older adults. This role includes designing age-appropriate curricula in performing or visual arts, preparing lesson materials, and facilitating creative projects that promote self-expression, self-discovery, and personal growth. The Teaching Artist will manage classroom environments, provide constructive feedback, and support participants in developing artistic skills and confidence. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with program staff, tracking attendance and progress, maintaining a safe and inclusive learning space, and participating in community events, showcases, or performances. The Teaching Artist will also communicate regularly with families, caregivers, and organizational leadership to align programming with community needs and organizational goals.Qualifications Demonstrated experience in performing arts(Music Ed., Musical Theater, Dance, or Creative Writing) or visual/digital arts instruction, with the ability to design and lead arts education activities for diverse age groups.Strong classroom and group facilitation skills, including behavior management, creating inclusive learning environments, and supporting at-risk youth and older adults.Ability to develop structured lesson plans and curricula that integrate creative expression, skill-building, and positive youth development.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, families, and community partners, and to serve as a positive role model.Commitment to community-based work, cultural responsiveness, and multi-generational engagement, particularly within under-resourced neighborhoods.Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple classes, prepare materials, and document participation and outcomes.Prior experience in community arts organizations, schools, or youth development programs is highly beneficial.Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Arts Education, Education, or related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.Ability to work on-site in Cleveland, OH, with flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends for performances, exhibitions, or community events.
