Teaching Faculty Positions at Westlake UniversityAbout Westlake University:Westlake University is a new type of non-profit research-oriented university in the People's Republic of China, supported by public and private funding. At Westlake, we strive for excellence in advanced research and nourish talented change-makers while remaining small and refined to ensure the quality of our research and education.Westlake University is currently accepting multiple applications from high-level talent for teaching faculty positions to expand the university's professional teaching force, establish a high-level teaching system aligned with the university's mission and goals, and provide students with solid learning guidance and support. The specific positions, job responsibilities and application requirements are as follows:Areas/Subjects:STEM fundamental courses, including Chemistry and Computer Science.General education courses, including Chinese Writing, Humanities and social sciences core courses (history, literature, and philosophy are preferred), and Psychology (for non-psychology majors)Responsibilities:Develop and teach introductory STEM, Psychology or general core courses for undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Science and Engineering (English-taught program).For candidates in Chemistry, contribute to the holistic design of the university’s undergraduate laboratories and the planning of equipment purchases.Enhance students’ motivation and interest in specific areas.Support students’ learning and provide individualized assistance; ensure sufficient office hours to assist students in regular consultation; provide training and guidance to teaching assistants.Organize and participate in other teaching activities on campus.

Requirements

Strong professional ethics and a sense of dedication to teaching. Passionate about teaching with extensive theoretical and practical experience at the university level.Ph.D. degree in a closely related field obtained from a leading Chinese or international university.Three or more years of teaching experience at leading universities at home or abroad with demonstrated ability to teach in English.Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.For other preferences and exceptions, please refer to:https://en.westlake.edu.cn/careers/OpenPositions/What We Offer:These are full-time teaching faculty positions open at three distinct ranks: Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Professor. The length of the contract is typically fixed to three years.
