Team members collaborate closely across disciplines and are encouraged to experiment, iterate quickly, and deliver practical solutions that solve real problems.Role Description The Technical Co Founder will lead the technical vision and execution for Girder AI, working in close partnership with the founding team to define and build core products. This is a full-time, on-site role based in San Francisco, CA, involving hands-on software development, system architecture design, and infrastructure setup for AI-driven applications. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating on product strategy, transforming business requirements into technical roadmaps, selecting appropriate technologies and tools, and implementing high-quality, maintainable code. The Technical Co Founder will also manage technical priorities, oversee testing and deployment processes, and ensure scalability, security, and reliability of the platform. Additional tasks include contributing to investor and customer discussions, helping build the initial engineering team, and establishing best practices for documentation, code reviews, and continuous improvement.Qualifications Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, with experience evaluating complex technical and business trade-offs.Effective communication skills to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders, present technical concepts clearly, and support cross-functional decision-making.Sales and customer-facing skills to participate in prospect meetings, gather product feedback, and translate customer needs into technical requirements.Marketing awareness and the ability to support product positioning, technical messaging, and collaboration with go-to-market efforts.Research skills to investigate new AI techniques, evaluate tools and frameworks, and stay current with industry trends.Demonstrated experience in software engineering, system architecture, and building production-grade applications, ideally in AI or data-intensive products.Experience working in or founding startups, with comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and taking ownership of outcomes.Ability to hire, mentor, and lead technical team members, and to establish engineering processes and standards.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
