Technical Co-Founder / Founding CTO, Reusable Space Transportation

Lumai is building reusable space transportation with a simple long-term goal: make moving things through space routine.We’re starting with liquid propulsion, VTVL, powered landing and reflight, then progressively pushing toward orbital payload transportation. We’ve already built our first subscale return capsule and our first liquid engine is now in detailed design.I’m looking for an exceptional technical co-founder to own the vehicle programme end-to-end with me.You’ll have founder-level ownership across:

• vehicle architecture and systems engineering
• propulsion, structures, avionics and GNC integration
• build, test and flight campaigns
• technical team and supplier development
• the path from early reusable demonstrators to orbital flightI care much more about what you’ve actually built than the number of years on your CV.You might come from launch vehicles, spacecraft, propulsion, GNC, hypersonics, UAVs, robotics, motorsport or another hard-tech environment. Ideally you’ve personally taken difficult hardware from design through build and test, and preferably flight.This is not a normal engineering role. I’m looking for someone who wants genuine founder-level responsibility, significant equity and the chance to shape the company and vehicle architecture from first principles.We’re currently based in the UK and building here initially, but I’m flexible on location for someone exceptional. Early flight testing may also take place internationally where it lets us iterate fastest.If the idea of building something, flying it, landing it and then doing it again sounds more fun than terrifying, I’d love to hear from you.
