Technical Director (Bespoke Software Solutions) $250k Remote – US East Coast

Ingenio is partnering with a leading global digital engineering consultancy to hire a Technical Director for its US team.This is a senior technical leadership role for someone who can operate comfortably in the boardroom and with engineering teams — shaping technical strategy, advising enterprise clients, and leading the delivery of complex, custom-built digital products and platforms.You’ll work with multidisciplinary teams across software engineering, platforms, architecture, DevOps, data, AI and design, helping major organisations modernise legacy technology and build scalable digital solutions.What you’ll own:You’ll provide technical and delivery leadership across multiple enterprise engagements, including:Setting technical vision and guiding architecture and engineering decisions.Acting as a trusted technology advisor to CIOs, CTOs and senior client stakeholders.Leading discovery workshops and translating business challenges into practical technical strategies.Overseeing the delivery of complex, bespoke software products and platforms.Ensuring solutions meet expectations around scalability, security, maintainability and engineering quality.Identifying delivery risks early and driving projects towards successful outcomes.Leading and mentoring senior engineers and multidisciplinary technical teams.Partnering with resourcing teams to build the right teams around each engagement.Managing project financials, resource allocation and commercial performance.Supporting post-sales, solution design, proposals and account growth.Helping clients understand where cloud, data, AI and modern engineering practices can create genuine business value.Providing technical leadership across the full technology landscape, with the ability to move between software, platforms, cloud, architecture, APIs, data and emerging technologies.What we're looking forThis isn’t an off-the-shelf implementation role.We’re looking for someone whose career has been built around engineering, bespoke software development and complex digital transformation.You’ll ideally bring:15+ years of experience across software engineering, architecture and/or technical leadership.A genuine engineering background, with strong technical foundations rather than a purely programme, project or commercial background.Broad technical depth across areas such as software engineering, platforms, cloud, architecture, APIs, distributed systems, databases and modern application development.A strong consultancy or professional services background.Proven experience leading custom-built software programmes for enterprise clients.Deep knowledge of modern software architecture, cloud platforms and engineering practices.Experience with distributed systems, databases and modern application development.Demonstrable AI experience, including exposure to AI-enabled solutions, AI/ML technologies, or the application of emerging AI capabilities within enterprise software and digital transformation.Experience leading discovery, post sales and solution design conversations.Strong commercial awareness, including budgets, project financials and resource planning.Experience building and mentoring high-performing technical teams.The credibility to challenge, advise and influence senior technology leaders.Most importantly, you’ll know how to balance technical excellence with commercial reality.You can go deep with engineers when needed, but you can also sit with an executive team, understand the business problem and explain the technical path forward without hiding behind jargon.Why consider it?You’ll join an established global digital engineering business with hundreds of specialists working across multiple countries and major enterprise clients.The environment is remote, highly collaborative and built around solving difficult engineering problems rather than implementing packaged platforms.The package includes:Annual company bonusPrivate healthcare401(k) with up to 4% employer match and immediate vestingFlexible remote workingFlexible time offRemote workspace allowanceTraining and professional development allowanceIf you’ve built your career at the intersection of engineering, technology, consulting, AI and enterprise transformation — and want more influence over what gets built, how it gets built and the impact it creates — we’d like to hear from you.📩 Apply now or contact Ingenio for a confidential conversation.
