Tech Lead Fullstack (Java + Angular) - Payments | International ProjectLocation: Remote, Portugal (100% remote work)About the roleWe're looking for a Tech Lead Fullstack to steer a critical payments platform for an international client. You'll set the technical direction, write and review code alongside the team, and make sure the payment flows we build are fast, secure, and rock solid. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll code, mentor, and shape architecture decisions that matter to millions of transactions.If you've led full-stack teams in financial services, know your way around SAFe, and want to work 100% remote from Portugal on a genuinely international project, this is built for you.What you'll doLead end-to-end delivery of full-stack features across the payments platform, from backend services to the Angular front endSet technical direction: architecture decisions, coding standards, and design reviewsWrite, review, and refactor code in Java (Spring Boot) and Angular/TypeScriptOwn the technical quality of payment flows: processing, settlement, reconciliation, and gateway integrationsMentor developers and raise the technical bar across the teamWork closely with product owners, architects, QA, and compliance to deliver features that meet financial-industry standardsDrive Agile delivery using SAFe: participate in PI planning, syncs, and cross-team ceremoniesEnsure the platform holds up on performance, security, and scalability, including compliance with financial regulations (e.g. PCI-DSS)What you bringStrong hands-on experience with Java (Java 11+/17+, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs)Strong hands-on experience with Angular (v12+, TypeScript, component architecture)Proven experience leading technical teams or acting as a tech lead on full-stack projectsSolid background in financial services, specifically payments (payment processing, settlements, reconciliation, or gateway integrations)Practical experience working within the SAFe framework (or strong Agile/Scrum experience with SAFe exposure)Comfort with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelinesUnderstanding of security fundamentals relevant to financial systems: OAuth2, JWT, encryption, and regulatory complianceBackground working in regulated environments (banking, fintech, payments providers)Fluent English (this is an international project with cross-border teams)Based in Portugal, available to work 100% remotelyNice to haveExperience with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)Exposure to both SQL and NoSQL databasesWhy this roleYou'll be trusted to lead, not just execute.
