Technical Lead

Tech Lead | Sydney | $165k–$170k + SuperJoin a high-performing product engineering team building one of Australia's largest consumer digital platforms.This is a hands-on Tech Lead role where you'll spend around half your time writing and reviewing production code, with the remainder focused on leading sprint delivery, mentoring engineers and driving technical outcomes. You'll work closely with the Principal Engineer to shape architecture, remove delivery blockers and raise engineering standards across the team.You'll be trusted to take ownership, make pragmatic technical decisions and help your team deliver high-quality software at pace.Hybrid working: 3 days per week in the Sydney office.Tech StackTypeScript | Node.js | React | Next.js | GraphQL (Apollo) | AWS | Kubernetes | MicroservicesThe engineering team is also investing heavily in AI, with future projects expected to incorporate AI-assisted development and intelligent product capabilities.What You'll DoLead sprint delivery by breaking down work, allocating technical tasks and keeping delivery on track.Design scalable, maintainable solutions and make pragmatic architectural decisions.Stay hands-on by writing production code, reviewing pull requests and mentoring engineers.Remove technical blockers, improve team velocity and drive engineering best practice.Partner with Product, QA and Delivery to balance customer outcomes with technical excellence.What You'll Need8+ years' commercial experience building scalable applications with TypeScript, Node.js, React and Next.js.Previous experience leading an engineering squad while remaining hands-on with development.Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, microservices and cloud-native architecture.Commercial experience with AWS, GraphQL, CI/CD, containerisation, observability and application performance.Excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor engineers, make technical decisions and drive delivery.ApplyClick Apply for immediate consideration or contact george.mills@changerecruitment.com.au for more details.
