This one's different.We're a defence technology company working on some genuinely hard problems - autonomous aerial systems, perception, command and control. We need someone who can own a capability area from the ground up. That means shaping what gets built, securing the funding to build it, and seeing it all the way through into the programs that depend on it.You'll be based in London, working closely with our US teams on a shared technical baseline while making sure the right elements stay developed and controlled in country. It's a role that sits at the intersection of engineering and program leadership and you'll need to be comfortable on both sides of that line.Day to day you'll be:Leading cross-functional teams across hardware, software, and systems engineeringBuilding and defending IRAD funding submissions through senior leadership reviewCoordinating test events from HIL simulation through to live flight on rotorcraft and UASActing as the main point of contact between engineering, program stakeholders, and customers in the UKGetting ahead of technical, programmatic, and export control risks before they become problemsYou'll need:A degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering — or equivalent hands-on experience8+ years in engineering, systems integration, or technical program managementGenuine technical depth — enough to interrogate a design, spot risk, and push back when neededSolid experience working within export control and security classification constraintsWorking knowledge of UK export control including SPIRE, OGELs, F680, and the UK Military ListA track record of delivering for UK MOD or similar regulated environmentsEligibility for UK SC clearance as a minimumGreat if you also have:Experience running an IRAD or R&D portfolio through stage-gate reviewsA background in effectors, munitions, or weapons systemsTime spent on rotorcraft, VTOL, or uncrewed air systems programsFamiliarity with Jira, Confluence, Jama, or MBSE approachesIf you're used to being close to the engineering, making the call on what belongs where, and driving things to done rather than just tracking them - we'd like to hear from you.
