It combines commercial ownership of accounts with application-level product knowledge, and works directly with customers' R&D, production and technical teams rather than with procurement alone.Position - Technical Sales, by business segmentOpenings - 5 mandates across 4 locationsExperience - 2–5 years in B2B technical sales of chemicalsEducation - Bachelor's degree in Chemical EngineeringNature of role - Field-based, customer-facing, with regular travel within the assigned territoryOpen positions - Each position carries one country or region and one business segment. The core role, experience and education are the same across all five.1 Technical Sales – Mining / Process Chemicals - Zambia - Copper mines, concentrators, smelters and refineries2 Technical Sales – Mining / Process Chemicals - DRC - Copper and cobalt mines and hydrometallurgical plants3 Technical Sales – Specialty Chemicals - Angola - Multi-segment: home and personal care, food, petrochemical and oil and gas customers4 Technical Sales – Home & Personal Care - UAE - Personal care, cosmetics, home care and detergent manufacturers5 Technical Sales – Lubricants - UAE - Lubricant blenders and grease manufacturersKey responsibilitiesThe role owns sales growth and technical customer relationships for its segment in the assigned territory.CommercialAchieve sales, margin and collection targets for the assigned segment and territory.Develop new customers and grow share of wallet at existing accounts.Build and maintain a qualified project pipeline, with accurate forecasts and regular reporting in the CRM.Prepare quotations, negotiate prices and commercial terms, and close orders within company guidelines.Track market trends, competitor activity and pricing, and feed this back to the business unit and principals.TechnicalEngage customers' R&D, formulation, production and technical teams to understand processes and performance needs.Recommend suitable products from the principals' portfolio and position them on technical and cost-in-use value.Manage sampling, lab and plant trials, and follow projects through from first introduction to approval and repeat orders.Deliver product presentations, technical seminars and troubleshooting support, drawing on principals' and the Company's technical resources.Principals and internal coordinationWork with principals on joint customer visits, product launches, training and business reviews.Coordinate with supply chain, customer service and finance on stock planning, deliveries and receivables.Follow company policies on product stewardship, safety, regulatory compliance and business ethics.Candidate profileThe ideal candidate is a chemical engineer with 2–5 years of B2B chemical sales experience who is equally comfortable in a commercial negotiation and a technical discussion.EducationBachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.Experience2–5 years in technical sales, business development or account management of chemicals to industrial customers.Proven record of dealing with customers' R&D, production and technical teams, not solely with procurement.Experience in the relevant business segment and country or region of the position applied for.Preferred background, in order of preferenceCurrently working for a specialty chemical distributor.Working for a chemical manufacturer or principal.Strong industrial B2B sales experience in a related field.Skills and competenciesSound understanding of the chemistry, applications and customer processes in the relevant segment.Consultative, solution-led selling, with strong negotiation and closing skills.Ability to open doors and build relationships at technical and management levels.Self-driven and able to manage a territory independently, with disciplined pipeline and account planning.Fluent English, written and spoken; local or regional language skills are an advantage.Willingness to travel extensively within the territory.If you are interested and aligned with the job role, request you to share your resume to sam@tpchr.inYou may wish to follow us for other exciting opportunities https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-practice-centre/
