Apply & track with Apply EdgeThe Technical Services Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the technical services department operations and functions of the business. This includes mine planning, geology and grade control, geotechnical engineering and mine survey at Osborne Mine Operations, to deliver safe, achievable and value-adding mine plans and to ensure the accuracy of the technical information on which operating decisions are made.The role also provides strategic input into life-of-mine planning, resource and reserve development, ground control strategy and the technical basis for capital and growth decisions.Ensure that all activities within the Technical Services Department operate within Safety, Environmental and Corporate policies to protect the employees, assets and resources of the company.4.1 Essential QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology or a related technical disciplineMinimum 8 years' technical experience in underground mining, including at least 3 years leading a technical services, mine planning or geology teamWorking knowledge of Queensland mining safety legislation, including the MQSH Act 1999 and the WHS Act 2011Proven successful safety leadershipAbility to create and develop strong and trusting relationships at all levelsExceptional communication skills (verbal and written)Time and project managementFunctional and operational understanding of mine planning, resource modelling, grade control, geotechnical risk and reconciliationKnowledge of service providers and supply agreementsAbility to influence people at all levels to achieve technical and planning best practice outcomesCurrent Queensland Standard 11 induction, or the ability to obtain it on appointment4.2 Desirable QualificationsPost-graduate qualification in mining, geoscience or businessMembership of AusIMM or Engineers Australia, or Competent Person status for resource or reserve reportingExperience in a metalliferous open cut operation, including copper or goldExperience with mine planning and modelling software such as Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan, Leapfrog or similarExposure to contract management or procurement processes4.3 Skills & AttributesStrong leadership, communication, and people-management skills.Solid financial acumen and ability to manage budgets and performance targets.Ability to interpret technical reports, geological data and make informed operational decisions.Ability to balance short-term production pressures with long-term value and risk, and to challenge assumptions constructively.High standards of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to continuous improvement.
