Technnical Consultant (Engineering)

POSITION TITLE: Technical ConsultantAn Engineering Consultant is required to perform different tasks that can be categorized and described as follows:Consultants are instructed by clients to either to:1) Assess engineering risk at a property (industrial or commercial)2) Determine the cause of failure3) Determine the nature and extent of damage following engineering incidents such as fire, contamination, breakdown or similar incidents4) Develop efficient and cost-effective reinstatement (repair and replacement) options necessary to return a damaged property (building, machine, plant …etc) to its original condition that existed before the incidentSome of the typical tasks required of our engineers include:• Accept instructions from clients and gather information on client’s needs• Offer advice on what steps could and should be taken to answer their questions.• Perform inspections and surveys of risk sites and incident locations• Thoroughly document the conditions on the ground using photographs, generating drawings and notes• Closely examine equipment and buildings documenting condition, defects and damages• Host meeting with different parties (operators, managers, HSE, vendors, OEMs …etc)• Perform online engineering research and analysis of standards, codes and applicable regulations• Perform market surveys by calling manufacturers, distributors and other vendors• Research and assess specifications and determine available upgrades• Meet with manufacturer representatives and repair vendors to discuss repair and replacement options• Prepare written reports and presentations, including spreadsheets, quotes and proposals• Maintain accurate, detailed and organized file for each instruction recording all activities, communication and correspondence with different parties.Business Development:Some of the tasks include:• Identify prospect clients through industry functions and referrals from other contacts.• Organize and schedule face to face meetings with clients at agreed upon location• Distribute company literature during conferences• Follow-up with clients after meetings to deliver additional informationPerformance Metrics:Project Managers are required to achieve and maintain certain performance metrics in all the different tasks they are asked to perform. These metrics are identified by the Manager in each location or practice during the year.REQUIRED SKILLS & CAPABILITIES:• Engineering skills: o Collect and analyse technical information from different sources o Perform basic test and examinations o Perform basic calculations and analysis• Communication Skills: o Ability to interact with different segments of clients, suppliers and other individuals o Ability to relay information both technically and non-technically in a clear and concise manner o Ability to prepare written reports (both technical and non-technical) in a clear and concise manner o Ability to present to public audience in different settings• Interpersonal Skills: o Cooperative and flexible in attitude and manner o Projects professional image and behaviour o Comfortable communicating with clients o Comfortable prospecting new contacts• Computer Skills: o Proficiency in working with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) o Ability to learn how to use Salesforce platform
