Position: Telecom Engineers (Electrical Substation Project) (2 vacancies)Location: Abu Dhabi, UAEDuration: 5 Months Contract -- This project team will support the first 5 months of the project, consisting of site surveys and design activities. Candidates must already be based in the UAE and ideally have previous electrical substation experience.Project Type: Brownfield Electrical SubstationsPlease note: Only candidates currently based in the UAE will be considered for this opportunity.Role OverviewShort-term UAE-based Telecom Engineer contract supporting a brownfield substation project through consulting/advisory division. The role involves conducting site surveys, defining telecommunications requirements, developing secure communication network designs, and supporting telecom infrastructure implementation for utility and substation environments.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform site surveys and assessments for telecom systems within transmission and substation facilities.Define and document telecom infrastructure requirements for new and existing substation projects.Design secure communication architectures supporting operational and business requirements.Develop and review telecom engineering deliverables, reports, drawings, and technical specifications.Design and support implementation of:MPLS networksVLAN configurationsFirewallsVPN solutions4G/5G communication systemsCoordinate telecom scope with multidisciplinary engineering teams including Electrical, SCADA, and Cybersecurity disciplines.Support telecom equipment provisioning, IP addressing schemes, and network configuration activities.Ensure telecom systems comply with project standards, utility requirements, and cybersecurity policies.Provide technical support during design reviews and project execution phases.Participate in technical meetings with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.Identify risks and recommend solutions to ensure project delivery and operational reliability. Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.Minimum 10 years of experience in telecommunications engineering.Demonstrated experience in electrical transmission and substation projects.Sound understanding of industrial communication networks and utility telecom systems.Experience with WAN/LAN architectures and secure communication systems.Strong knowledge of:MPLSIP NetworkingVLANsRouting & SwitchingFirewallsVPN TechnologiesWireless Communication (4G/5G)Familiarity with telecom integration for SCADA, OT, and critical infrastructure environments.Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience supporting UAE utility, transmission, or power sector projects.Knowledge of OT cybersecurity principles and secure network architecture.Experience working on brownfield substation projects.Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent networking certifications.Familiarity with IEC 61850 communication environments.Additional InformationContract Duration: 5 MonthsSite Survey Phase: Approximately 3 MonthsDesign Support Phase: Approximately 2 MonthsCandidates must be currently based in the UAE.Electrical substation project experience is highly desirable.Interested candidates are encouraged to send their CV to anis.suraya@airswift.com
