Apply & track with Apply EdgeAbout the JobRole DescriptionA Telecom Field Technician / Broadband Installation Advisor supports the installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of broadband and telecommunications services. The role combines field technical work with customer support, including equipment installation, network testing, fault resolution, site visits, service documentation, and customer guidance.The position is suitable for candidates with backgrounds in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Networking, Communications, or related fields. Previous experience in broadband, fiber, networking, field service, or technical support is an advantage. Fresh graduates and entry-level candidates are welcome to apply.Key ResponsibilitiesTelecom Field TechnicianInstall, configure, test, and maintain broadband, fiber, network, and telecommunications equipment.Conduct customer site visits for new installations, upgrades, repairs, and technical inspections.Install cables, connectors, routers, modems, optical network equipment, and related devices.Test signal strength, connectivity, network performance, and equipment operation.Diagnose and troubleshoot broadband, fiber, cabling, router, and connectivity faults.Inspect cables, connections, equipment, and network devices for damage or abnormal conditions.Replace or repair defective equipment where authorized.Follow work orders, technical drawings, installation guides, and company procedures.Record installation details, test results, faults, equipment changes, and completed work.Escalate complex technical issues to network or engineering teams.Maintain tools, testing equipment, vehicles, and assigned materials.Complete service requests and work orders within required timeframes.Broadband Installation AdvisorCommunicate professionally with customers regarding broadband installation, activation, equipment setup, and service requirements.Explain installation procedures and basic equipment functions clearly.Conduct pre-installation checks and identify potential site or connectivity issues.Advise customers on suitable router, modem, and Wi-Fi equipment placement.Assist with basic router, modem, Wi-Fi, and broadband configuration.Provide basic troubleshooting guidance and escalate complex faults when required.Explain technical problems and solutions in a clear, customer-friendly manner.Confirm customer requirements and ensure completed installations meet agreed specifications.Maintain accurate customer, installation, service, and follow-up records.Handle customer information professionally and maintain confidentiality.Safety & ComplianceFollow telecommunications, electrical, workplace, and site safety procedures.Use required PPE, approved tools, and testing equipment.Follow safe procedures when working with electrical systems, cables, ladders, and access equipment.Report hazards, equipment defects, unsafe conditions, and incidents immediately.Follow applicable working-at-height, underground-service, restricted-area, and site-access procedures.Protect customer property and maintain a clean and professional work area.Comply with company policies and applicable telecommunications regulations.RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent qualification is preferred.Diploma or bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Networking, Communications, or a related field is an advantage.Technical or vocational training in telecom, networking, electrical, or electronics is an advantage.Previous experience in broadband, fiber optics, telecom field service, networking, or technical support is preferred.Basic knowledge of IP networks, Wi-Fi, broadband, fiber, cabling, and telecom equipment.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Good attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures.Good communication and customer service skills.Ability to explain technical information to non-technical customers.Basic computer skills and familiarity with network diagnostic tools.Professional, reliable, safety-conscious, and customer-focused attitude.Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.Willingness to travel to customer and field locations.Ability to work outdoors and perform physical field duties when required.Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and extended hours when required.Valid driving licence is an advantage.Fluency in English is preferred; additional languages are an advantage.Willingness to complete technical and safety training.What We OfferCompetitive salary based on qualifications and experience.On-the-job training in telecommunications, broadband, fiber, and network troubleshooting.Hands-on experience with telecom infrastructure and field service operations.Technical, safety, and customer service training.Career development in telecommunications, fiber networks, broadband, network support, field engineering, and technical services.Opportunity to work with experienced technicians, engineers, network teams, and customers.Potential progression to Senior Field Technician, Fiber Technician, Network Technician, Telecom Engineer, Installation Supervisor, or Technical Support Specialist, subject to qualifications and performance.Employment benefits in accordance with applicable labour regulations.
