Apply & track with Apply EdgeJob SummaryThe Terminal Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient loading and discharging of road tankers at the fuel terminal, which is the primary focus of this role. Based mainly at the loading gantry, the operator prepares tankers for product transfer, operates loading arms, pumps, and metering systems, and ensures every movement is completed accurately and in full compliance with company procedures. The role also supports wider terminal activities, including product receipt, storage, and transfer, tank gauging, routine equipment inspections, and record keeping, always in line with company HSE standards and regulatory requirements.Key ResponsibilitieRoad Tanker Loading & Discharging (Primary DutyLoad and discharge road tankers safely, efficiently, and strictly in accordance with company procedures.Verify tanker documentation, driver authorisation, compartment allocations, and seals before and after each transfer.Connect and disconnect loading arms and hoses, and confirm earthing/bonding and overfill protection are in place before any transfer begins.Operate loading rack equipment, pumps, and metering systems, and monitor transfers to ensure accurate quantities are loaded or received.Stop transfers immediately and respond to any abnormal condition, such as leaks, alarms, or spills, during loading or discharge.Complete all loading and discharge documentation, including meter tickets and delivery records, accurately and on time.Terminal & Tank Farm OperationOperate pumps, valves, pipelines, and other terminal equipment for the receipt, transfer, and dispatch of petroleum products.Perform line-up of pipelines and valves for product movements.Gauge storage tanks and record product levels and temperatures; monitor tank capacities and report any abnormal conditions.Collect product samples and carry out basic quality checks as required.Assist with inventory reconciliation and stock movement records.Equipment Monitoring & HousekeepinConduct routine inspections of pumps, valves, loading racks, meters, generators, and firefighting equipment.Report equipment malfunctions or leaks immediately.Assist the maintenance team during preventive and corrective maintenance activities.Maintain good housekeeping throughout the terminal and yard.Health, Safety & Environment (HSEComply with all HSE policies, procedures, and safe work practices.Wear and maintain the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Participate in toolbox talks, emergency drills, and safety meetings.Report unsafe conditions, incidents, spills, or near misses immediately.Support emergency response activities whenever required.Documentation & ReportinRecord daily operational activities, tank readings, and meter readings.Maintain shift handover logs and operational checklists.Ensure all records are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.Qualifications & ExperiencHigh School Diploma or Technical Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related discipline.Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a fuel terminal, tank farm, depot, or petroleum storage facility.Hands-on experience loading and discharging road tankers at a loading rack or gantry is strongly preferred.Skills & CompetencieSound knowledge of petroleum terminal operations, particularly road tanker loading and discharge.Competent in operating pumps, valves, loading racks, and fuel transfer equipment.Basic understanding of tank gauging and inventory control.Good understanding of HSE practices in the oil & gas industry.Basic computer skills for operational reporting.Good communication and teamwork skills, w.th the ability to work safely under pressure and follow operational procedures.Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
