Akkodis is seeking a Test Engineer for one of our clients in Dearborn, Michigan.Rate Range: $35.00/hour to $40.00/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.The Test Engineer is responsible for testing, validating, and optimizing engine performance attributes related to combustion, mechanical function, durability, fuel economy, and overall engine operation. This role works within a product development environment to support the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and reliable powertrain solutions.The engineer will design and execute engine test plans using dynamometer test cells, analyze test results, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support engine development programs. Responsibilities include performing engine validation testing, collecting and processing data, generating technical reports, and providing recommendations based on test results. This is a hands-on position that involves direct interaction with engine hardware, testing equipment, and advanced data acquisition systems.This role is 4 days onsite with 1 day work from home.Please note, we are not able to work with third-party vendors for this opportunity.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute engine performance and durability test plans.Test setup, test execution, data processing, analysis, and reporting of engineering observations and recommendations.Conduct engine dynamometer testing to validate combustion and mechanical attributes.Collect, process, and analyze engine test data.Prepare technical reports, presentations, and data summaries.Support engine calibration and performance optimization activities.Work closely with design, controls, calibration, validation, and product development teams.Document test observations and communicate findings to stakeholders.Support establishment of engine power, torque, durability, and fuel economy targets.Skills and Experience RequiredExperience with engine combustion development testing and calibration activities.Understanding of internal combustion engine operation, performance, and mechanical systems.Knowledge of engine testing methodologies, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.Experience executing validation and durability testing on engine dynamometers.Ability to collect, organize, and interpret large volumes of test data.Experience using data processing and analysis tools.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.Ability to develop and execute structured test plans.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and within cross-functional engineering teams.Nice-to-HavesEngine calibration development experience.Mechanical development or powertrain development experience.Experience with combustion analysis tools and methodologies.Familiarity with engine controls, control strategies, and calibration software.Experience with durability and cycle-based engine testing.Knowledge of fuel economy optimization and emissions-related testing.Experience working in an automotive OEM, supplier, or engine development environment.Exposure to advanced engine development technologies and validation processes.EducationBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering field required.If you are interested in this role, then please click APPLY NOW.
