Our service portfolio covers Engineering, Design, Procurement, Project Management, Inspection, Logistics Management, Transport & Delivery, Commissioning, SAT & PAT, Training and Maintenance.The OpportunityWe are looking for a Telecom Commissioning Engineer to independently manage the commissioning of Telecom and Security systems at our clients' sites, both onshore and offshore. You will be the person who takes the system from factory testing through to final client acceptance in the field: system configuration and FAT/IFAT with the client at our own premises or at the manufacturers', then pre-commissioning, commissioning, SAT, end-user training and punch list close-out once the systems reach site. Between assignments you will work from your base office, supporting Engineering in the preparation of test procedures and in resolving issues arising in the field.Place of EmploymentThe position can be based either at our Abu Dhabi office (United Arab Emirates) or at our Al-Khobar office (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), depending on the candidate's preference and project requirements.ResponsibilitiesPlan commissioning activities in coordination with the Project Manager, the client and Engineering, defining sequences, resources and timelines.Analyse project documentation (Functional Design Specification, Block Diagrams, Interconnection Drawings, Cable Lists, I/O Lists) as the basis for factory and field activities.Draft and/or review pre-commissioning, commissioning and SAT procedures and submit them for client approval.Configure and set up systems in preparation for testing, and run the FAT and Integrated FAT (IFAT) with the client, targeting a zero-item punch list. FAT and IFAT sessions are held at our Abu Dhabi facility, at our Milan facility in Italy, or at the manufacturers' premises, depending on the project.Re-configure, re-commission and restore full system functionality once the equipment has been shipped and installed at site, ensuring consistency with the configuration approved at IFAT.Supervise and verify third-party installation work (cabling, terminations, power supplies, earthing) and formally report non-conformities.Carry out continuity tests, point-to-point functional tests, loop checks and integration checks between subsystems.Conduct the SAT with the client, managing the recording, classification and close-out of the punch list.Deliver operational and maintenance training sessions to end-user personnel.Produce daily/weekly site reports, site queries and as-built feedback to Engineering.Work in full compliance with client and site HSE procedures, including permit to work and safe systems of work in classified areas.Support after-sales assistance and warranty interventions as required.RequirementsTechnical diploma in Electronics, Telecommunications or IT, or a degree in Telecommunications / Electronic Engineering.At least 5 years' experience in commissioning, start-up or field service activities on Telecom or Security systems; experience in the Oil & Gas sector is an advantage.Good command of English, written and spoken (B2 level or above), is a mandatory requirement.Proven ability to configure systems and run FAT and Integrated FAT sessions with the client, and to reproduce and validate the same configuration once the systems are installed at site.Full availability for onshore and offshore assignments, in the Gulf region and internationally, for periods ranging from a few weeks to several months, including at short notice. This includes travel to our Milan headquarters and to European manufacturers for FAT/IFAT sessions and technical meetings.Physical fitness for offshore activities and willingness to obtain and maintain the required certifications (BOSIET/FOET, HUET, offshore medical fitness, H2S).Working knowledge of at least one of the following areas:Security Systems — Access Control, Public Address / General Alarm, Intrusion Detection, CCTV, Personnel Tracking, Man Overboard.IT / Networking — LAN, Wireless LAN, switching and routing, SDH/PDH, VSAT, OTN, optical fibre.Communication and Ancillary Systems — IP Telephony, TETRA/UHF/VHF Radio, Intercom, Video Conferencing, Meteorological.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and interconnection drawings.Use of measurement and test instruments (OTDR, power meter, multimeter, network and spectrum analysers).Ability to make decisions independently in the field, solve problems under pressure and manage the direct interface with the client.Valid driving licence and a valid passport with ample remaining pages.Good command of the Microsoft Office suite, in particular Word and Excel.Preferred QualificationsEU citizenship, or another nationality granting visa-free access to the Schengen Area, allowing travel to our Italian headquarters and to our Milan facility for FAT/IFAT sessions and technical meetings without visa formalities.Knowledge of Arabic is considered a plus.Valid offshore certifications already held (BOSIET/FOET, HUET with EBS, OGUK/ENI medical).Experience on sites of end users such as ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, Eni, Sonatrach, and familiarity with their standards and site procedures.Knowledge of ATEX / IECEx regulations and of working rules in classified areas.Product certifications (e.g. Cisco, Motorola, Honeywell, Genetec) or optical fibre certification.Familiarity with OT cybersecurity requirements (IEC 62443).What We OfferA role in a fast-growing multinational company, with projects across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Australia.Salary and benefits commensurate with experience and place of employment.Site assignment package: daily onshore/offshore allowance, travel, meals and accommodation at company expense.Insurance coverage for site activities and work abroad, and full funding of HSE and offshore certifications.Structured professional development and technical training, with the opportunity to progress towards Lead Commissioning Engineer or Site Manager roles.
