As such, we are looking for a candidate to serve as Trade Compliance Manager.The Trade Compliance Manager leads the analysis of shipment documents and oversees the data required to clear goods through customs, entering it into the system and obtaining clearances. This role fields classification requests, oversees client product database maintenance, and directs the team’s work, coordinating filings with the FDA, USDA, and Fish and Wildlife. The Trade Compliance Manager communicates customs status to forwarding partners, ensures goods are delivered, and communicates directly with PGAs and USCBP to process clearances and respond to requests. This position also oversees payment coordination when Navia is not the forwarder and provides leadership and quality oversight across the compliance team.Reports to: Director of Customs and Trade ComplianceKEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOperationalClassify goods and build product databases for clientsFile post summary corrections and recover duties for clientsFile professional written ruling requestsAnalyze customs imports and find potential savings in classification, valuation, and FTA analysis.Consult clients on PGA requirementsField classification requests from clients and brokerage teamsBuild FDA product codes and maintain FDA data sets for drugs, medical devices, and biologicsGenerate CDC Forms of no permitPrepare Fish and Wildlife data sets and filingsProvide USDA permit requirements and data setsApply for continuous bondsFile Drawback EntriesFile recon entriesValidate Powers of attorney and upload to the systemMaintain TSA records and trainingMonitor bond and file bond applications.Maintain the client bond list and promote bond sales.Audit files and lead document quality improvement initiativesAccountingTrack Billable hoursBill Clients TimelyLeadershipProvide oversight of brokerage teams to ensure correct classificationsServe as an escalation point for complex classification, valuation, and PGA compliance mattersMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree10 years of professional experience in customs and trade compliance, including prior supervisory or team-lead experienceExperience with organization, planning, and follow-throughExperience classifying a variety of goods, including FDA product code building, Fish and Wildlife data sets, and USDA permits and data setsExperience building FDA data sets for drugs, medical devices, and biologicsUS Customs Broker LicensePREFERREDBachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management. JD.Experience in client-facing rolesExperiences with other agencies clearancesExperience working in ExcelCompetency in Microsoft OfficeCompetence in Python, VBA, and Java.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting. Activities include extended periods of sitting while working at a computer and occasional fast-paced operations and events.The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and co-workers. Regular use of the telephone, virtual meetings, and e-mail for communication.
