In collaboration with Quest Executive Search, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Trade Compliance Officer to lead our client's trade compliance function in the US. This pivotal role focuses on ensuring compliance with all domestic and international trade laws, particularly within the defense and tactical communications sectors. You will be responsible for managing export controls, sanctions, and customs regulations while fostering collaboration between our US office and global partners. This is a hybrid role, and you will be expected to work from the office a minimum of three days per week.Key Responsibilities:  Export Control Management: Oversee ITAR and EAR compliance, ensuring proper handling of defense articles and related data.Government Liaison: Establish and maintain relationships with key US government agencies to facilitate compliance.Licensing & Registration: Manage the registration of manufacturers and exporters, and oversee export authorization requests and licenses.Disclosure & Audit: Lead the voluntary disclosure program, ensuring accurate reporting and resolution of any potential violations.Policy Analysis: Monitor regulatory changes and emerging trends that could impact the organization’s compliance landscape.Technical Compliance: Ensure all specialized hardware meets necessary regulatory certifications for international shipment.Internal Advocacy: Develop strategies and policy memos to support the organization’s global objectives. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs, Political Science, Business, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred.Experience: At least five years of experience in regulatory compliance, particularly within the aerospace and defense industry.Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of ITAR, EAR, and AECA frameworks.Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain or currently hold a Secret or Top Secret security clearance.Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex regulatory information clearly to leadership.Technical Proficiency: Competence in Microsoft Office and capability to handle confidential information discreetly. Desired Attributes: Certification such as Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO) or Certified Export Compliance Professional (ECoP®) is a plus.Proactive attitude with a commitment to compliance integrity.Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.US citizenship or permanent residency is required. Why Join Us? This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a growing organization poised for significant expansion in the defense sector.
