With offices in Hong Kong and Malaysia, the firm aims to bridge Greater China and ASEAN, supporting capital markets connectivity and sustainable economic development in Asia as a key global hub.Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Trainee role based in Hong Kong SAR. The trainee will assist lawyers in legal research, drafting and reviewing documents, and preparing memoranda on financial services, regulatory issues, and sustainable finance matters. Day-to-day tasks include supporting transaction execution, organizing and maintaining client files, attending client meetings where appropriate, and preparing meeting notes and follow-up documentation. The trainee will also help monitor regulatory and market developments in Greater China and ASEAN, contribute to internal knowledge management, and support initiatives related to impact investing, stewardship, and sustainability. Collaboration with colleagues in Hong Kong and Malaysia offices and adherence to professional ethical standards are integral to the role.Qualifications Strong legal research and analytical abilities, with interest in financial services, asset management, investment funds, and regulatory matters.Competence in drafting, reviewing, and proofreading legal documents, with clear and precise written communication skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks, organize complex information, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.Demonstrated interest in sustainable finance, impact investing, social finance, and stewardship, including willingness to learn and stay updated on market developments.Excellent interpersonal skills, professional integrity, and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, cross-border team.Fluency in English, with proficiency in Chinese (written and spoken) highly advantageous; additional Asian languages are a plus.Law degree (LLB or equivalent) or current enrollment in a recognized law qualification program; eligibility or intention to qualify in Hong Kong is preferred.Prior internship or exposure to corporate, finance, or regulatory work is beneficial but not mandatory; strong motivation and commitment to a career in law are essential.
