Apply & track with Apply EdgeJob Title: Training Specialist 3/ Instructional Designer Duration: 18+ months contract (Possible extension)Location: Remote with occasional onsite visitsJob Description:Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to assess training needs, design impactful learning solutions, and develop high-quality training materials for both technical and non-technical audiences. This role partners closely with clients, subject matter experts (SMEs), and project teams to deliver effective, scalable training aligned with business and system implementation goals.Key Responsibilities:Conduct training needs assessments and job/task analyses by collaborating with clients and SMEs, including facilitating focus groups and workshopsDesign and develop training solutions, including instructor-led, virtual, and eLearning content (PPTs, job aids, user guides, quick reference guides, etc.)Translate complex technical documentation (functional specs, test scripts, vendor materials) into clear, learner-friendly training contentConsult with stakeholders to recommend appropriate learning approaches and solutionsFacilitate train-the-trainer sessions and support training rolloutsManage multiple training projects simultaneously, including Product, timelines, milestones, deliverables, and resourcesCommunicate project status, manage client expectations, and proactively address risks or roadblocksTroubleshoot training-related issues and adapt solutions as neededPerform additional duties as assigned to support training objectivesRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Business, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)5+ years of experience designing and developing system-based and/or technical training materialsStrong analytical and critical-thinking skills with excellent attention to detailProven experience applying instructional design and adult learning methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM)Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and tools such as SnagItHands-on experience with at least one eLearning authoring tool (Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.)Excellent written, verbal, and facilitation skills, including experience delivering or supporting training sessionsDemonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with clients, SMEs, vendors, and cross-functional teamsStrong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple prioritiesSelf-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in fast-paced or ambiguous environmentsPreferred Qualifications:Experience working within a utility company or regulated environmentExperience using SharePoint for training development or content managementExperience supporting training as part of Agile software development projectsBackground in procedure writing and project management
