As the university grows, we are building a collaborative team committed to student success, with room for each team member to build systems, take ownership and grow professionally.Position SummaryThe Transfer Credit and Admissions Evaluator is the first reviewer of every application. The role checks files for completeness, applies CalMU's written admission criteria, evaluates academic transcripts for preliminary transfer credit, and prepares complete files for the Admissions Manager and the Registrar. Preliminary credit is advisory until the Registrar completes the official evaluation. This position reports to the Admissions Manager and PDSO.Key Responsibilities
- Review domestic and international applications for completeness and eligibility, including credentials and English proficiency documentation.
- Make admission and denial decisions under the written admission criteria; refer exceptions and all international denials to the PDSO before release.
- Evaluate unofficial transcripts and issue preliminary transfer credit evaluations, labeled preliminary, using CalMU articulation rules and accreditation standards.
- Prepare Enrollment Agreements for manager review; collect official transcripts, follow up on missing documents, and close the file.
- Enter decisions, notes, and documents accurately in Populi and HubSpot; protect student records under FERPA.
- Answer applicant questions on status, required documents, and preliminary credit; direct immigration questions to the PDSO and official credit questions to the Registrar.
- Prepare complete files for Registrar handoff.
- Cross-train on SEVIS data entry and I-20 file preparation.
- Support orientation and keep admissions checklists and templates current.Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Two or more years of hands-on experience in a college or university personally evaluating academic transcripts and determining transfer credit and course equivalencies (admissions, enrollment, or records processing alone does not qualify).
- Working knowledge of regional and national accreditation and of transfer credit practice.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and a student information system; CRM experience.
- Clear written and verbal communication; strong attention to detail.Preferred Qualifications
- Foreign credential evaluation experience.
- Experience with Populi or HubSpot.
- Familiarity with DEAC or BPPE standards.
- Bilingual ability.
- Interest in becoming a designated DSO, if eligible.Schedule, Location, and Compensation
- Location: On campus, San Diego, CA 92108.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Employment type: Full time, non-exempt (hourly).
- Pay: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour.
