Make a Difference Where It MattersAt EFWS (Education and Family Wellbeing Service), we do education differently. We work with children and young people who have struggled to engage with mainstream education. For many of our students, wellbeing comes before learning. Before we can expect a young person to learn, we need to help them feel safe, understood, regulated and ready. We're looking for compassionate, patient and curious people who want to work differently and see the young person behind the behaviour.It’s About More Than TeachingAt EFWS, we take a holistic approach. We look at the whole young person — their education, wellbeing, relationships, environment, strengths, interests and individual needs. We believe that all behaviour is communication. This approach helps us understand what is behind a young person's behaviour and find ways to support them that are meaningful and individual to them, and for this reason your role won't just be about delivering lessons. It will be about building trust, creating positive experiences and helping a young person recognise what they are capable of.What You'll DoYou'll work 1:1 or in small groups, providing personalised support based on each young person's needs.This could include:Supporting wellbeing alongside learningDelivering GCSE, Functional Skills or ASDAN where appropriateAdapting activities to suit individual needs and interestsBuilding confidence, independence and trustUnderstanding behaviour as communicationCelebrating progress, however big or smallWorking with families and a wider team of professionalsWho We Are Looking For:We welcome applications from a wide range of education and support professionals, including:Teachers and trainee teachersTeaching Assistants and SEN specialistsTutors and mentorsPsychologists and psychology graduatesOther professionals with experience supporting children and young peopleQTS is desirable, but it is not essential.
