UCAT Trainer

We are looking for a motivated and student-focused UCAT Trainer to join our medical admissions team. The role involves delivering high-quality UCAT preparation, identifying individual student needs, and helping students build the knowledge, strategies, timing, and decision-making skills required to perform confidently in the UCAT.ResponsibilitiesDeliver engaging and structured UCAT preparation sessions covering Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and Situational Judgement.Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify students' strengths, weaknesses, accuracy gaps, timing issues and question-selection challenges.Develop personalised study and improvement plans based on each student's diagnostic performance and target score.Teach effective question-solving strategies, time-management techniques and decision-making approaches rather than relying solely on repetition and practice volume.Monitor student progress through mock tests, sectional assessments, homework and regular performance reviews.Analyse student performance data and provide clear, constructive and actionable feedback.Help students understand common UCAT question patterns, traps, distractors and recurring errors.Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, abilities and levels of prior preparation.Provide students with structured practice plans and guidance on independent preparation between sessions.Conduct regular mock tests and review sessions to help students develop exam-day strategy, pacing and confidence.Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, diagnostic results and areas requiring additional support.Communicate effectively with students and, where appropriate, parents regarding progress, expectations and preparation milestones.Collaborate with admissions counsellors to ensure UCAT performance is considered alongside academic profile and university-specific entry requirements.Stay up to date with UCAT format, scoring, policies, timelines and changes to the UK medical admissions landscape.Contribute to the development and improvement of UCAT teaching resources, question banks, mock assessments and learning materials.Support webinars, workshops, open days and other student-facing UCAT initiatives when required.Contribute to a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.Qualifications & ExperienceStrong understanding of the UCAT examination structure, scoring and question types.Previous experience teaching, tutoring or mentoring students preparing for UCAT or similar aptitude/entrance examinations.Strong analytical and numerical reasoning skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to explain complex reasoning and problem-solving techniques in a clear, simple and engaging manner.Strong time-management and organisational skills.Ability to analyse student performance data and translate it into practical improvement strategies.Experience working with students aged approximately 16–18 is highly desirable.Experience supporting students applying to UK medical schools is an advantage.A strong UCAT performance or demonstrable experience achieving/improving UCAT scores is desirable.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary admissions team.Patient, approachable and student-centred attitude.Commitment to maintaining professional standards, confidentiality and safeguarding when working with under-18 students.
